Hi - I just posted a similar question, on another board here......I don't have the nausea, but cramps, galore! I've had a vaginal ultrasound and endometrial biopsy due to some extended bleeding (which has stopped, for now), but feel a constant crampiness, mainly in the center, lower section. If it continues, I think I'm going to make an appt. with the gyno (last visit was Dec. 4). But I notice, lately, I'm getting lots of strange feelings/symptoms that I'd never had before...I'm 51. Sorry I don't have any answers, but just wanted you to know you're not alone in this.

Jen, This has been one of the worst syptoms for me...and I also think anxiety has alot to do with it. My doctor thinks the micronized progrestrone for the anxiety and some diet cleansing changes.Hope this helps

I'm brand new to this board and just found this thread. OMG! I'm 49, just missed my first period 3 weeks ago and I've felt just AWFUL. I have been nauseous for 3 weeks straight and period-like crampy pretty much the whole time too with stomach cramps on and off. I felt so bad that I actually took a pregnancy test (negative). I'm so glad to see this post.

I've had such intense gas and stomach
cramps that it has make me nauseous.
It use to happen mainly before menses,
but since peri it's unpredictable. Then
it'll vanish. Night from hell last night
with the tummy troubles keeping me
awake. It's likely Irritable Bowel, as
the hormonal fluctuations affect the
neurotransmitters in the gut, as well
as the noggin'.LOL. Fluctuating hormones
stress me out, so this may factor in as
well. Ginger, fennel, enteric oil of
peppermint can help. And, I have those
almost constant period type cramps, too.
I only missed one period. Let's get this
show on the road.

Me too. Nausea (just like morning sickness-which I also got in the early evening), the trots, cramping- but could this be the bowel? Today I've bought colpermin (ent peppermint), indian brandy for colic, centrum multivitamin, multimineral and b supplement. Kill or cure!!!!!

Nausea is better today - but I have it all day long. I woke up at 2:30 AM when hubby came in from work and I had it then too. I took another EPT just to make sure - came out negative - thank you God! Two days ago I almost passed out in Target reaching for a can of hairspray - not from nausea, from who knows what! Still cramping but not even any spotting......this is irritating!

O my yes. The nausea like morning sickness, I thought I was going to throw up the other day. Know I can't be pregnant because hubby is fixed. As for the passing out feeling I know that too and that is most frightening for me. Glad I am not alone. What I am really getting sick of is the low pestering headache I seem to always have now.. So annoying.

Alice, Since I've heard how intense
migraine pain can be, I'm gtateful to
ecape this torture. I've had scores of
other hormonal maladies, but have
gratefully escaped nasty headaches.
Feell better!

What does everyone do for these tummy pains?
I have tried "Indian Brandy" - made from capsicum - with hot water which relieves colicky pain. Obviously if the pain is constant you should see a doctor. Anyone have any other remedies?

Just found Power Surge today! What a great informational forum, thank you.
The onset of Menopause was also the onset of my stomach problems.
Indigestion, gas, nausea, yuk! I have one gallstone and the surgeon wants to remove my gallbladder. I really don't think it's the stone that is causing my distress. It was interesting to read that about the stomach receptor (is that an estrogen receptor?) I have cut out dairy because I could not longer tolerate it. I feel pretty good in the morning then evening the gas starts and indigestion. I have been off HRT for over a year (I'm 55) and just started taking chinese herbs which have helped a lot with the hot flashes. Has anyone else had trouble for years with these stomach problems? Honu

And now they've come up with milk causing ovarian cancer because of the estrogen in the milk!
My goodness we'll all be so thin soon, because we'll not be able to eat or drink anything! Sheesh! :x

Sometimes a heating pad on the tummy helps. That's recommended
after a colonoscopy when they pump LOTS of air up
there. I've also literally rubbed my gut on one of those big
blue back balls to release the gas. One night my son walked
in as I was moaning and rolling on the ball, stating, " I feel
sorry for you."
You're stomach essentially has it's own brain, so this is why
low dose tricyclic antidepressants alledgedly help IBS. They never
did much for me in that department. I also never know whether
it's IBS or Ulcerative Colitis.
I actually get rectal spasms. Which are a joy!!
Gosh, Alice I'm following you around here worrying today.lol
Husband dying, ovarian cancer.
Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!
I read the fennel I used for tummy cramps is carginogenic, as well.
I've had moments where I still drank fennel seed tea, cancer be
d a m n e d. It was weird when I walked into an Indian food
store, picked up a bag of fennel and the proprietor asked,
"Stomach aches." THey do use it for stomach aches.

Oh, the receptor thingy. Um, I asked the gastroenterologist
which oscillating hormone would cause the stomach cramps.
He looked clueless. It may be the fluctuations, as it worsened
premenstrually for me.
This has gotten slightly better, but last night I had INTENSE
cramping.

That's my point Chris! Tabloids really print such a load of rubbish half the time and if you are feeling anxious it doesn't take much to set you off does it?

I've also heard the theory that IBS is caused by a lack of enorphins
in the gut, since those in the midst of an attack resemble
an opiate addict, clutching their gut in withdrawal.
Low dose naltrexone is suppose to be coming around to being
patented. Higher dosages help block the high from opiates and
possibly alcohol, to discourage addicts. A compounding pharmacy
can do low dose naltrexone, but BIG PHARMA seems to have
something in the oven. I'm not recommending it.LOL This is
just an interesting theory that made sense to me. :?: :?: :?:
I don't think they know.
It's always wise to rule out anything serious.

Enteric oil of peppermint helped IBS in double blind studies.
Aimee, also stated her husband's gastro recommended the
enteric oil of peppermint. He also has Ulcerative Colitis.
She said it wasn't helping the gas much, which was my
experience. Or, I'd feel better than stop it.

Yes my daughter finds those helpful and she drinks lots of peppermint tea. I've found acidophilus bifidus helpful and have just bought some digestive enzymes. I've read they help if combined.

I've also had stomach pain, indigestion etc since peri. It seemed everything started to cause acid stomach and pain. I got so fed up I now just stick to a simple bland diet and it really helps. I already had been doing it for help with palps (an irritated stomach/oesophagus can make palps worse), so now I just stay with the diet. Some people may resent changing their diet, but I think if your stomach is dicky (for whatever reason) you need to take care of it. So it's small meals of soft-cooked veges, well cooked wholegrain cereals, nothing fried, etc. As long as it's non-acid and easy to digest it's OK for me and my stomach troubles have improved a lot. Plus I've lost weight! Added bonus. Hehe. It hasn't been easy though, because I am already a vegetarian (vegan) and now my food choices are even more limited, but it's worth the effort to feel better. Maybe in a few years I can go back to enjoying Indian food and all the lovely things I'm missing now. Here's hoping!

I have been shaky/jittery all day. It's really been a bad day. Tonight I am nauseous. Is there a home remedy that anyone knows for this, the nausea? I have read through this old forum and someone mentioned pepperment tea. I am going to try that. The other suggestions would mean visiting a pharmacy or health food store which I am not up to. Thanks in advance to anyone who replys.
