Full Version: Lost that "special" feeling

I am 46 and while I still have a sex drive and desire...I find that I seem to have lost sensation in my clitoris. The only time I feel anything there is at ovulation time. I can feel something but not that intense feeling that brings on quick orgasms. It takes a long time to get there, if at all through clitoral stimulation.

I have been unsuccessful in getting testosterone cream and finally gave up.

Any thoughts on what to do/try? I wish I could find a mail order for testosterone cream and just bypass the doctors.

Thanks all...

I'm wondering why no one has replied to this thread????

Hmmmmmm!!!

Well, dont expect me to say anything either!

Ok, I'll say something. Have you tried a vibrator? Does that work any better?

Below is a link to a list of compounding pharmacies by state. Surely one of those will have what you want.

http://www.project-aware.org/Resource/Pharm.shtml

But the subcutaneous pellets work better according to what I've read. Testosterone does increase the ability to orgasm. I understand the feeling of wanting sex but not being able to orgasm. Until I got the pellets. Now I have no problems at all.

I'm going to try and copy information that substantiates that here in another reply. Sorry, I need to reboot...computer is low on resources.

Well, kayla, njw was braver than both of us!!

I am curious about the pellets.

Are they the same ones I read about in another thread that have to be surgically inserted?
njw753
Yes, but surgically is a tad big to describe it. The doc just numbs an area on my hip, makes a tiny incision and sticks in the pellets. Then she puts on some steri-strips and a bandaid. Only takes about 15 minutes. Women get them every 3-5 months. I'm at 4.5 months between insertions. Easy procedure. They call it surgical so insurance pays for it.

You know there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity! I also am an open book. I'll talk about anything that just might help another woman. After having no sex drive for 16 years and now it's out of this world, I know there is hope for other women. I've been married for 26 years to a man I love deeply. And knowing that I absolutely love and want sex ( to say it mildly) with him again is worth the world to me.

So...ask away!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the list of pharmacies. Without a precription, that's pretty much useless though. My doctor will not give me any testosterone cream and living in a small town (4,000 people) and 3.5 hours from the next town...makes it hard to get what I want.

As for the vibrator...well..YEAH! But hubby doesn't vibrate..unfortunately! rolleyes.gif
njw753
Oh yes he can...but that's a whole other topic probably not for this forum!!!!!!

I also have a list of doctor that do pellets in almost every state. If they do pellets, they probably do the creams. I see you live in Bishop, CA. Here is a list of doctors in CA. There might be one near you. This list came from College Pharmacy. I can not guarantee the accuracy or competency of the doctor. If not, I still might be able to find one.

I have a friend that just saw a doctor in CA that does bioidenticals and she loves him. I just sent her an email asking for his name.

WEEELLL, I didnt have much to offer anyway, except for L-Arginine, but was curious as to what others would have to say.

One more thing...you might try calling compounding pharmacies and asking for referrals of doctors near you. That's how I got the list from College Pharmacy. I emailed them and asked. Had it within 30 minutes. There are 41 compounding pharmacies in CA. Surely one of them can refer a doctor near you.

Ok, here goes. It's really pretty simple. There is a pink vibrating c**ckring that has a dophin head on 2 sides. Tiny vibrating bullets slip inside of the dolphins. So when you are put it around him, one vibrating dolphin head gets your clitoris and the other vibrates the back. I hope I don't get in trouble for the below info. But inquiring minds want to know! And it's on sale.

I never had much luck with this one. Just couldn't hit the right places. I have had less sensitivity the last few years. My breasts and nipples feel nothing, which is not good. Same goes for my clitoris. But strangely my G spot is heightened! I have found a combination of a vibe on my clitoris, with deep intercourse gives me great Os. My dh is a trooper and will and has tried everything to please me. I am luckyl I am not wanting to be on any hormones, and this works for me very well.

loss of sensation, difficulty reaching orgasm, are common signs of low estrogen. I was on a low dose vaginal estrogen for a while that helped me, but it stopped working and I began to have what I refered to as barely-there-gasms if I orgasmed at all.
Arginmax helped me but I see someone already mentioned l-arginine.
if you are a perimenopausal smoker that can also be an issue, since smoking decreases the blood flow to the area (and every other area as well)
njw753
From what I've read, low testosterone is more responsible for sexual responses:

Low testosterone can cause:
Global loss of sexual desire
Decreased sensitivity to sexual stimulation in the nipples and in the clitoris
Decreased arousability and capacity for orgasm
Loss of muscle tone
Diminished vital energy
Thinning and loss of pubic hair
Dry skin

Low estrogen levels can cause:
Hot flashes
Night Sweats
Sleep disturbances
Vaginal dryness/atrophy
Dry skin
Headaches
Foggy thinking
Memory lapses
Heart palpitations
Yeast infections
Painful intercourse
Depression
Low libido
Bone loss

But the most inportant thing is that they are balanced. Too high of one causes symptoms the same as being too low. My estrogen was pretty high at last testing. My testosterone was midrange. I was feeling a little lacking in the libido area so I only got a testosterone pellet to bring the two closer in balance. And it worked! Libido is back in full swing!

I had the testosterone implant done about 2 months ago. I never thought I would complain about being horney, BUT this has given new meaning to the word. I wake up in the morning with the naughtiest thoughts possible. I think i know what it must now be like to be a Dude!
I am trying to balance things out with some Estrogel. I just shaved my legs today and It looks like I was trying to take hair off of an animal. I'm sure for me I will never have this done again. It also has falred up my Rosacea . The doctor assured me it would help my skin and that is why I had it done in the first place. I can't wait until it wears off.

Best wishes!

Sharon you say you feel really horny with the testosterone. Does it also make you feel agitated and anxious?
I use a gel and it has brought back sexual sensations but when I use a higher dose it makes me feel awful!
I never actually feel horny-well not really. If I start to have sex then I can get there easily enough but its not the same as when I was younger. I never have fantasies etc any more. Maybe its my age- I am 56 now. I dont use estrogen because I had cancer, but I do use a little estriol cream for dryness. I suppose that helps a bit with libido but if I try to use it too often I start to get very anxious as well. What are you using?

Yes Janet REALLY HORNY !! Like I just got to have sex ! Its like being in my twenties or worse. I have more fantasy going on now then I did then. I can orgasm quite a few times too.
I use Estrogel, a FDA bio-identical estrogen and a compounded prgesterone. I have more trouble with the progesterone then anything as far as anxiety and feeling like I might go crazy. It has taken a lot of trial and error, but I am going to try to cycle the P every 3-4 months rather than using it daily.
Maybe you should try the testosterone implant?? I have used the transdermal and this is nothing compared to that. I don't think your age should matter considering my age..lol !!

Best Wishes!

I wouldnt dare try an implant! If it was too much I would be stuck with it and I dont think they do them in UK anyway. My doctor gave me testogel for men and I have tried all different amounts. Its either too much and I get agitated and bad tempered, or not quite enough, although its adequate for sensation. Once I get going then I am ok. I get pretty intense orgasms as well but I miss the feminine desire feelings beforehand and the fantasies. I think its probably to do with a lack of other hormones. As I said before I am not on estrogen and there is no need for progesterone as I have no uterus.
I really dont want to use HRT because its taken me over 2 years to get over the intense hot flushes and its better if I can avoid it with my cancer history. You are lucky to be having such a great time. I miss it badly!

There is supposed to be a product called "Libigel" a bio-identical coming out on the market soon. I believe the Bio Sante company who developed Divigel is bringing it out.
I would think a man's T gel would be a hard one to figure out and it probably isn't a bio-identical either, thus the strong reactions.

Hey Janet,

Please do not think I'm trying to change your mind. We all have to do what we believe is best for us. But I do believe they do the pellets in the UK. Alot of the research comes from there. As for maybe getting too much with pellets, most doctors start out on a lower dose based on your testosterone levels from blood tests. So far none of my pellet friends have complained that they've gotten too much. I would be leary of testosterone made for men. I agree with pieddove that testosterone for men is probably not bioidentical resulting in stong of reactions.

This is according to Dr. Rebecca Glaser of hormonebalance.org

You may wonder why you haven’t heard of pellets. Pellets are not patented and not marketed in the United States. They are frequently used in Europe and Australia where pharmaceutical companies produce pellets. Most of the research on pellets is out of England and Australia with some from Germany and the Netherlands. Pellets were frequently used in the United States from about 1940 through the late 70’s, early 80’s when patented estrogens were marketed to the public. In fact, some of the most exciting data on hormone implants in breast cancer patients is out of the United States. Even in United Stated there are clinics that specialize in the use of pellets for hormone therapy.

Nancy
janet c

I still think that my problem is more likely that I am out of balance. I suspect that most ladies who use testosterone also are using estrogen and possibly progesterone. I have no ovaries so my body is producing virtually no sex hormones of any kind although I believe that a little is made in the adrenal glands. There is already a testosterone patch for women in UK which has not been approved for use in US called Intrinsa-but it is only for use with estrogen. I dont think I would be allowed to have it on its own without estrogen. My doctor gave me Testogel for men but it is a discretionary thing. It is not really a recognised treatment for women but it is better than nothing!

Glaser is the one that did my implant and I was surprised after having my entire blood profile done that she would only do the testosterone implant. I found she is doing some study on these and when in her office she gave a handout that really scared you about the estradiol implants. It was basically you would probably bleed and you would then have to go back to your own Dr. to deal with the problem. I had the feeling she just didn't want to mess with it. she had a nurse come in and tell you about a vaginal E and P you could use along with your T implant.
When I had the horrid flare up with the rosacea I called and I can't say I was satisfied since no one responded and then I called back the second time.
The supposed nurse said I could prehaps take Saw palmetto and that she would talk to the doc and get back ,but never did.
since then I got an e-mail about Glaser's study she is doing with the T implants and that I was of course a part of it. I feel like her guinea pig since what I wanted was hormone balance and of course the Estradiol pellets too.
I am not pleased, but still believe that done right the implants could be the way to go.

Best wishes!

Hi Janet,
Yes, balance can be a tricky thing. I had my hyst with both ovaries removed 20 years ago and it was only 4 years ago that I discovered testosterone replacement. Yes, 16 years of no sex drive. I did always have estrogen replacement, but now with both I feel better than I have in years.

I have used this model. I think for me it wasn't able to stay where I needed it, my clitoris. I also did not like the anal vibration either. I have used several small vibes for my clitoris while having intercourse. Recently I bought the Hitachi wand. It just plugs in. it is quite large, but I can hold it fine during sex, works well for me. It has two speeds and powerful.

I am so disapointed in hearing that about Dr. Glaser. Her website is really good and informational, but your experience is what counts. Why in the world wouldn't she want to balance the whole woman, that's what we need, not just testosterone. She's off my list now!

Hi Nancy,

I was impressed by her website too and that she was actually in Ohio ...and reachable for me. I thought it would be great to have someone actually do a hormone blood profile and maybe figure me out. I held so much emotionally in that one appointment. I am very disappointed and have no idea who one can trust anymore. I am just now trying to figure out things for myself.
I couldn't believe I couldn't even get a follow up of information. I swear the woman that was the supposed nurse knew less then I did as far as hormones. She comes in initially with the sales pitch and shows you the cream (bi-est + P} that they want you to order from a compounder and explains how you put it up and on your vaginal area. I should have walked out ,but the Doc swore i would love the T implant and it would help me with the dry eye, nose and rosacea thing. Well androgens increase the problem with rosacea. I'm really tired of being taken advantage of because I no longer have the time or the money or the emotional stamina to deal with stupidity!

Best Wishes!

Janet,

I am so sorry you had that bad experience. I don't blame you for being frustrated and wanting to give up. Your experience doesn't match up at all with her website. My pellet friends and I have a stupid doctor list. I'm adding her to it!

I hope you can find someone or something to get some help.

I do have a list of pellet doctors from all over the US. There is another on the list from OHio. Maybe worth a call at least.

Hi Pieddove,
I don't do progesterone. I have not had a uterus for 20 years. But I think my doctor's website mentions something about that.

The doctor's name came from College Pharmacy. They are one of the pellet pharmacies. Sotto Pelle is another brand. There is a Sotto Pelle certified physician in Mason and Cincinnati. Are these near you?

Lucky you... no progesterone ! Cincinnati is close to 4 hours and I think that Mason is close to Cincinnati ! For now I am stuck with the Estrogel. I can't afford out of pocket expenses anymore. I will check on these though and see if they are insurance covered.
Thanks so much!

Vibrating Cock Ring report.

All I can say is OMG! We loved it. One minor hitch, the vibrator on the back side kept turning off from our movement.

Thank you ladies for talking so open, you have no idea how much this helps someone like me.
My doc wouldn't listen do much and I also was a little shy talking about this subjekt. The reply was: "We should work with what natur gave us". Now I have to find out for myself, how to help me, what I should take and how to get it.
My anual check up was fine. I don't take any hormones. Never had much problems with menopause....just need to have that special feeling back. I still do enjoy my husband very much...but I know something is missing! I'm to young (53) to give it up! smile.gif

Nancy,

Do you have a doc that's reputable near Detroit, MI that does pellets?

Also, it is pretty pricey isn't it?

Thanks,

EN

Let me know how you do.

Of course there's hope.

Read through the posts on page 1 of this thread about testosterone.
Not having a uterus doesn't mean you are incapable of orgasm.

Maybe if you don't have a clitoris, or a vigina with a G-spot, then, you may have lost everything. But they usually don't remove those parts.

I would recommend testosterone in some form or other. There are creams, gels, patches and pellett implantation, as described on page 1.

I spelled vagina wrong.

Armadillo,

I know you probably didn't mean for this to be funny, but it was.

Gave me a real chuckle........... one I have not had in a very long time!

THANKS A BUNCH!
