Hello, I need some hot flash validation help as well. Yesterday afternoon I felt the what I'd call menopausal symptoms coming on, but not bad. Probably a slight headache, a little nausea, but I could function.

I woke up this morning and was so dizzy, but I wasn't hot. I rode the train to work and could barely walk to the office I was so dizzy. I made it a half hour at work and was so nauseous I felt I would throw up soon. But again not a real hot flash, which I have had.

I left work, came home, threw up, and definitely got the cold flashes. Slept for a few hours and am up but a bit tired.

I'm scared - - how can I function at work when this stuff happens? I have to go to work tomorrow. I have to admit I've been trying not to take anything but vitamins. I have been feeling pretty good and got this bad a bout of it about six months ago. I'm 51 and my period is still fairly regular but light.

Thanks to all of you for reading this and I commiserate with anyone who has these hard symptoms to deal with. Your inspiration is amazing. Sincerely, Marie

marie: are you sure you don't have a touch of a the stomach flu? Especially if you're riding a train every day, you are inhaling everyone else's germs...

Anxiety can cause these symptoms that you mentioned.I once had a panic attack and had a horrible cold flash during it.I felt like I had icewater running through my veins. It Was awful.Have you been having any anxiety?Hope you feel better,GODbless.

Dear Marie,

I am so pleased to meet you, although I would prefer that it be under different circumstances. smile.gif

Peri can indeed cause the symptoms you describe, but as RR wrote, so can a virus or flu. It sounds more like that to me than peri. If you feel sick in the mornning, I would suggest that you stay home from work. More and more employers are happier to have employees take a sick day than come in and infect the entire crowd. That will also give you some leeway to evaluate your symptoms and try to discern the cause. If you feel it is peri making you feel so bad, please do not hesitate to see your GYN. There are treatments that can ease the bumps in the road.

I hope you feel better very soon. Sending cyber flowers your way.

Thank you so much for your responses. It has helped so much.

It doesn't feel like the flu - - but I know there is a flu going around the office (hasn't struck my department). The flu has been manifesting in different ways these days, so maybe that is it.

Your words helped me to contact someone just now and say I might not make it in to work tomorrow. I'm supposed to be in at 7:00 a.m. to do something extra. At least now I don't have that pressure. And I can give myself some time in the morning to figure out what's going on.

But I also don't know that it isn't perimenopause. I am extremely anxious this week. I have to do something or let's say I chose to do something this weekend that is making me very anxious. I had to practice last night and I was very upset and the symptoms I was having that felt like perimenopause symptoms last night weren't helping with my anxiety.

And the fact that I had these severe symptoms six months ago exactly when I had to do the same nerve wracking thing on the upcoming weekend makes me wonder....smile.gif

I also overate last night, maybe all that contributed to the severeness of the symptoms.

Recently I have been having nausea in the morning at exactly 6:30 a.m. and it goes away after about 10 minutes.

I've been to my doctor and the prescription was not for hormones but low dose birth control pills or effexor. I couldn't bring myself to do either one. Anyway, thanks for listening again.
