Hi,
I have a very painful problem and can't figure out a solution to make it easier to
deal with. I had a hysterectomy and bladder sling done 3 years ago and when
they pulled the bladder up and the vagina it pulled tissue that was once
outside my vagina into the opening. Even my urethea is pulled up inside vagina
some...relocated at least.
Part of my scar where I was cut from front to back when I gave birth is now up in
the opening of my vagina and it very painful during sex. Prior to the surgery I knew it
was there but it was no problem during intercourse because it was between my legs
not inside. Ouch!....I try to find a position using a pillow to and keep the pressure off
but doesn't work.
I am thinking about some kind of topical pain med that would numb this area
but don't want to numb it all!!!!
Has anyone had this happen after surgery..any suggestions??
thanks,
JanaK

A good malpractice attorney? ohmy.gif Seriously, it does sound as though your surgeon was a bit overzealous in pulling that bladder up so high that it would cause such a misplacement of structures & tissue. Have you gone back to tell the surgeon what problems you are dealing with as a result? I'm sure no one would want to go through that surgery again... but you may have to look into a revision to fix the problem...and maybe by a different surgeon! I would get a second opinion on whether this procedure was performed correctly and what can be done now. You should not have to live with new problems and pain as a result of this surgery!

Nite Owl, I feel you are so right abut this surgeon getting a little bit
carried away when he done this procedure. In fact, I had 2 different
doctors working on me at the same time, an urologist and and gyn
doing the hysterectomy.

The bladder was pulled so high that I still had to have the catheter
3 months after the surgery....He finally told me he could go in an
redo it but really didn't guarantee.....reference to not being able
to empty bladder with out the catheter..... that was a miserable time
had that sub-pelvis catheter tube all those months. So I told him take it
out and I would catheterize my self each time and they showed me how.
Horrors!!
But I realized something quickly if I sat down I couldn't go at all...
so that means to me the swing was too tight, but if I stood up I
I could ...... I had to pee standing over the toilet for months(felt like a
man..got good at too)lol but after time I guess there was some stretching
and I could finally sit down to urinate.
I have finally left this medical group and I am looking for another gyn.
In hind sight , I so wish I had never had it done but you can't go
back. I thought for a long time the painful part would get better
but it hasn't really... is worse further into menopause with dryness even
though I use lubricants and moisturizer.

I, also, wish the doctor that delivered my baby...(a he)..had to have his bottom
cut and twisted and sewed like he done mine....he mad.gif wouldn't be a very happy
fellow....when the incision was repaired it felts like he just took
all the tissue twisted in into a knot and sewed it together.
Thanks for listening,
janaK
