Hi. I am 41 and have suffered from increasing peri symptoms for the past couple years, including anxiety, weepiness, moodiness, fatigue, periods coming closer and closer together. Lately my worst symptom has been the weepiness. My gyno put me on Yaz and I am just finishing up my first pack. About 4 days before my period started, I was VERY weepy, cried the entire day, was emotional off and on since then, and now a week later am still very weepy and depressed. Do I continue to give Yaz a chance or go the bioidentical route. I've been reading a lot of Pete's posts from Belleview Pharmacy and it sure sounds promising. I just don't know which route to go down, I DO know these emotional roller coaster rides are really taking a toll. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Karlie,
I think I answered one of your other posts about YAZ--I took it for about four months, and I never could get the breakthrough bleeding under control. The estrogen made me feel better though after only three weeks. After about three months, even the emotional symptoms came back. I am now on bioidenticals and feel much better. I think if I were you I would try either a different bcp or bioidenticals; it sounds like you are really miserable.

It takes around 3 months to get leveled out in your system. I am sure it would probably be the same with any form of replacement therapy nothing is going to be an instant cure. I felt all sorts of symptoms my first couple of months on the BCP, thought I needed to switch etc. I held out and low and behold I feel great and have done since somewhere in the middle of my third pack. I wouldn't just toss in the towel yet, give it the time it needs. Of course after several months if you still feel the same then you need to consult your doctor.

for whatever it is worth, i am one of those women who are ultra-estrogen sensitive. when i started a synthetic steroid that mimics estrogen, progest and test. after about six weeks i was a depressed, suicidal mess....my third estrogen-induced depression in my lifetime! for me it was a matter of adjusting the dose....every other day for me works beautifully. NOW GRANTED it is NOT the same thing that you are on, but it could be a similar situation: your dose is too much. i tried the bio-identicals and lots of vitamins, black cohash, etc first but just couldn't stand it any longer.

wishing you all the best....hang in there and don't throw the baby out with the bath water! i finally feel like i am getting my life back and wouldn't want to go back to the pre-tibolone days for anything!

Hello,

I went on BHRT (Oestrogel) and Testestorone cream and I felt better in two days. The Oestrogel is estradiol and is sold in the US as Estrogel. I us 1.5 mg. of estradiolper day and a little T cream on vulva area several times per week. I'm cycling vaginal progesterone for 10 days per month, as I still have my uterus. I'm 59 and just stopped periods 2 yrs. ago. I had monthly regular periods up until I stopped. Never missed one, just stopped. It didn't take mos. for me to feel better on bio identical esstradiol. My sister also takes estradiol pills and they have helped her. I believe the gel is better for absorption. Many like the Vivele Dot patch too, which is supposed to delived a constant stream of estrogen to the bloodstream by-passing the stomach.

Hope this helps. It took me about a year of trying varios things until I learned what worked best for my body but when I found the right combo, I felt better right away.

Hi Ethans NaNa - Just wanted to say how happy I am to see you're feeling well! I remember what a tough time you had with the progesterone intolerance. I'm glad you kept trying...it can be hard to keep up hope but is so worth it when you find the right combination/dose/route and feel good again!
