I just started taking lexapro for some very bad anxiety and sleep issues. I'm also doing therapy. I have some big life issues coming up and it triggered this latest phase. i've never taken an AD. My concern is getting off of them. How difficult was it? I don't intend to stay on it long, just to help me with this acute phase.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome! smile.gif

There is a wonderful thread about Lexapro on the Message Board. It has a lot of combined wisdom, and I encourage you to read it!

Hoping you will get relief soon,

Welcome to Power Surge! smile.gif

There are some excellent threads on antidepressants on the Board Discussions. Take a look--there is a lot there from wonderful women.

It can take a while to find the right medicine. Don't give up. Work with your psychiatist untl you find the medication that is for you.

I hope you find relief very soon. I know so well what depression is like.

Best,
Marcy

I was on Paxil CR 12.5 mg for 6 months

I started tapering on March 18 .... I am now free of the drug. I use L-Theanine to help with the anxiety that usually occurs during PMS.

So far so good - but I think you have to taper all AD, if I am not mistaken.

Hi

welcome to power surge
i have been on lexapro twice -
the first time after about one month it gave me tinnitus - yuck - so i stopped and any good it had done me was gone although my symptoms did not worsen from their original state pre lexapro - i decided to give it another try about 2 months later after trying some other ad's which did not work for me. Now I have been on it for 2 months or so 10 mgs for one month then just upped to 20 mgs. - I can't really tell if its helping but I belive it is helping along with a combination of BHRT and some anti anxiety meds. One thing is for sure - if you can't live day to day and your symptoms are off the charts then don't worry about stopping the ad down the road. Many here have been able to by tapering and others have had some trouble and have had to go back on. Its a quality of life issue and YOU DESERVE A LIFE OF QUALITY!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks - so far it seems to be helping but I'm only just starting week 2. ADs make me nervous but it seems to better with than without for now.

The nice part the first week was sleeping all the way to 7. Now it seems I'm back to waking up at 3ish. Patience with the Process I tell meself.
