Has anyone noticed a problem with weight gain after starting a vitamin, supplement or other natural product? If so, which one? I haven't been able to find much research on this subject and I was just wondering if anyone has had a personal experience with weight problems after being on a certain product. Thanks for any help, Connie

Connie, I haven't heard of any vitamins etc causing weight gain, but I do know some medications can. I take Inderal and apparently that is known to cause weight gain...so if you're on any medication, that might be what's causing it...

VIT E causes weight gain! i was suspicious becuz i was gaining weight like crazy but didn't think i was eating any more than i usually did (but knew i was feeling great on all that vit E!) i read in a magazine that there might be a relationship between the two so i googled wink.gif "weight gain and vitamin e" and one of the first articles that came up was "weight gain in beef cattle" with this finding (i just googled it again and it was the first thing that came up on my screen!) QUOTE: " The differences in daily BW gain and time to reach slaughter weight thus probably were effects of the vitamin E status rather than positive effects of additional vitamin in the diet." i told my husband that it was no wonder i felt like a cow!

i stopped the vit e (except for what is in my meno-soy drink supplement and daily vit) and the weight came back off.

something to think about...smile.gif

I started taking Vitamin E (200 IUs) in February, and I have not gained any weight. I have actually lost a few pounds. Since I've been taking magnesm, extra calcium, D, and E, I feel so much better. I have more energy. I haven't had a period in 7 months, and I think my hormones have leveled off. Since I don't have the ups and downs of periods and hormones, I feel better. I'm not having the adrenalin surges in the morning that caused anxiety, and I think my meno belly has actually gotten smaller. My clothes fit a lot better around the middle.

My GYN said not to take more than 200 IUs of E a day because it is a fat soluable, not water soluable, vitamin. If your body does not use the E, it stores it in the fat cells. So maybe you are taking too much. Vitamin K is also another fa soluable vitamin.

If you take mega doses of other water soluable vitamins, the body just excretes out what it doesn't need.

Hope this helps.

YEP! i realized after i posted that that i should have said how much i was taking to feel so good rolleyes.gif i was taking more than 200 becuz it helped so much. when i looked at my meno-soy powder that i use as well as my multi-vit i am getting enough "e" between the two of them, so the extra i was taking was what made me look and feel like a cow fattened for slaughter!

Great point and thanks for that.

Yes, Yes, Yes. They make me hungry, and I have gained weight no doubt. Less hungry when I don' t take them. I take Centrum vitamins.
