As some of you may know, my MIL is very seriously ill and her days are numbered. Needless to say, this is causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. I have noticed that I am getting more hot flashes again, several times a day, and really bad at night. I also notice that when I get impatient, that I also get a hot flash. I know my hormones are all out whack, even more so with the added stress. So I'm not sure if this is hormonal or stress related or both. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for any input. Oh my YES!!! Last year, when I had my big crash....because of the unrelenting stress my family went through....I was a flashing fool!! It was happening all day....hot hot hot!!! And at night yes...woke me up, over and over and over....blankets on, blankets off, blankets on, blankets off!!! Between lack of sleep, stress and sadness, hormones doing a nosedive.....I ended up a huge mess...HUGE!!

So absolutely 100% YES, stress adds to your hormonal imbalance and increases your symptoms. And be careful of exhausting your adrenals right now....they can only take so much, before the tire out. You need to make sure you take care of yourself during this time, even though I know you don't want to make it about you! You will be no good to anyone if you end up where I did....I would not wish that on anyone!!

Be there for you family, yes, just make sure you are looking after yourself as well!! I hope your MIL does not suffer, and has a peaceful, beautiful journey to the other side.

Yes, yes, yes, ((((Gardenbear)))) - I could have written Floater's post!
Prayers for you and your MIL - may she fall asleep and wake up in heaven.
God bless, Jonie

absolutely yes....I have just had a hell of a few days (half the electrics not working in the house, so can't cook, can't wash.....some might think that's great, but it's frustrating me!).....not to mention can't find an electrician that wants to come or calls back/turns up!!!

My hotness has been getting out of control in the day and moreso at night, and yet I had all but got rid of them the last month or so!

I also believe my hormones have been out of whack these past few weeks of intense never-ending stress, and I can't wait for it to lift so I can get back to being the "normal" person I think I was. Hot flashes just pop up without warning and I feel like a raging lunatic most of the time.

Thanks ladies, for your replies. I am sorry you have suffered this, too, but am relieved it "isn't just me!" I seem to be doing more of the hot and cold thing, and the whole blanket on/blanket off routine as well. Really getting annoying! This was happening occasionally before all this stress, but now it is a daily and nightly occurrence.

And, Floater, I am trying to take care of myself, as difficult as it is. I guess it is a good thing I am an exercise junkie and absolutely must eat regularly! Been indulging in a bit too much chocolate though! rolleyes.gif

Hi....I'm a "newbie" saw this and was compelled to respond.
First off....I'm really happy to have found this site...I don't feel so alone inny-more!

I've been period free now for two years this month (WOOHOOoooooo)...with that, I've come across some of the most "normal" affects of peri and menopause and abnormal such as "flashing" and "flushing" when I'm highly upset, impatient, stressed and with anxiety. The hot flashes of old that use to happen whenever they felt like it are now hot flashes depending on my level of stress.

What I do is deep breathing....I simply take a deep breath and remember that I'm still going through my "change" and I'm going to still have the bothersome affects of menopause.

Pissed me off at first because I thought the flashes and flushes went bye-bye....but I figure...they gotta end eventually....so....I try REAL hard to stay away from stressful crap, keep my easily upset set at an all time low.....(quite hard in my particular family "shituations)...and tell myself...."this too shall pass"
