Could someone rec. a good self tanning product? I have tried several, but they seem to dry slowly and leave streaks. Thank you for suggestions.

I've never tried any of them and don't know anyone who has used one that didn't look weird. What about those spray-on tanning booth places?

Dear Hope
I use Vichy Auto Bronzant - Hydra-Bronzing Milk.
It does not leave any streaking and you will not turn yellow....mind you I would sample a few because I should think it depends on how your skin re-acts to these different products. I have no doubt that there are terrible chemicals in them....and that we will all suffer some horrible disease.....I have no doubt that there are countless medical studies that decree these lotions are terrible for you...............BUT.............

I like that particular product.

Dottie,
Can you tell us where you get that product at? I have never heard of it. I agree with hope, I can't find a self tanner that doesn't cause streaks either. I have used the spray on tan, but I was shocked at much it cost and how short of time it lasted.

I buy it at Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada. I should think that any large chain drugstore would sell it in the U.S. of A. .....The important thing to remember is to use very small amounts at a time....and make sure that you evenly distribute the lotion over your skin.

I LOVE IT!! Can not wait to start using it again.

Cheers!!

I tried several of the good brands which are available here in Europe, like Clarins, Lancaster, Lancome, Ellen Betrix.
In quality they are equal to me. The trick is to give your skin a good scrub before applying the product and if you have a dry skin first put on some non greasy body lotion and let it absorb. After a few minutes your skin is ready to have the tanning product!
My skin is very pale and I use those tanning products a lot, aspecially on the legs and as far as I know self tanners are absolutely non toxic and harmless.

Good luck!

Logan,
Do you order tan towels from HSN or do you but them in a store? Thanks, Connie

I have used the products from Bath and Body and had good luck with them. I only use it on my legs as they are so pale compared to my arms. I think it is important to scrub your skin with a good loofa first as then you get rid of all the dead skin and the tan lasts longer too.

Hi Connie.................. I do purchase through our Shopping Channel...... we don't have HSN but it is the same. What I love is they are individually wrapped and you can throw them in your suitcase and voilla.......... "Instant Tan".

I did notice them in a drug store last summer, (hit & miss though) but very expensive. I purchase them by the box, then I never run out!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Reminds me.........think I'll start soon. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Thanks everyone for the good ideas. I have some good ideas now for self tanners that will work. I do wear hose at work, but with capris at home or out, my legs look so pale and anemic without alittle color. Thanks again for the ideas. Hope

Rather than a straight fake tan why don't you try one of the moisturisers with a litle self tan in them like L'Oreal's Nutri Summer or Johnsons Holiday Skin. They build up more slowly so you don't have such a dramatic effect overnight and they are not so smelly either.

I use them and you don't have to exfoliate each time.

Alternatively mix some fake stuff with your usual moisturiser and apply after exfoliation, which is a must with all fake tan products.

EVERYONE LOOKS BETTER TAN!!

(FAKE NOT REAL AT OUR AGE LOL)

I FOUND A REALLY NICE ONE BY BANANA BOAT, AND NOW DARNIT I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT. IT'S BRAND NEW, THE BOTTLE
IS BRONZE COLOUR..........................ITS SOOOOOOO SILKY AND WORKS GREAT AND DOESN'T STREAK.

I feel too crappy right now (just got back on my paxil) to do any tanning, but I know that it also knocks ten lbs off of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my opinion, that everyone looks better with a healthy glow.

Right now, my legs are so white they're green.

oey...........i still try to self tan my face, cos in the summer it's too hot to wear foundation............eccchhhhhhhhhhh

I use Banana Boat's EveryDay Glow SunDial. It's adjustable...you can control how much moisturizer vs. self tanner you want. I find a little bit of the tan-in-a bottle followed by 20 mins or so of the real thing (sun, that is) is a good combination.

I've often worried about the chemicals in these things...I hope they aren't harmful to our bodies...I'll have to add it my ever growing list of things to worry about tongue.gif

I use Famous Dave's (you can google his page and he has a Ebay store). I bought it because everyone raves about I didn't notice any smell and there wasn't any streaking however... I was disappointed in the color. I expected a deep tan after one coating due to the reviews I read yet I didn't get but a faint color. Mind you, I'm somewhat dark complected and tend to tan well outside and I was trying to get my legs to match my arms that were already tanned. So maybe I was expecting too much.

Are there any that don't stink to high heavens? I tried Banana Boat about 7 years ago, and never again. That was supposed to be a good one too. All it did on my face was make both dry AND break it out plus look "dirty" despite careful application, and on my body, my skin got extremely dry, despite exfoliating, and using a rich moisturizing lotion(Cetaphil) - ugh! But the worst of it was the SMELL!!! Even with taking showers, that smell stayed on me. Even my husband complained and asked me WHAT had I put on my skin. I guess my body chemistry and self-tanners just don't agree. I tried sniffing a couple of the gradual tanners, and basically I can tell that they will smell just about as awful on me. So I ditched the whole idea!

Hi Girls! SO many good ideas here! I'll give them a try.

I have gone to a tanning salon and had the "Mystic Tan". They spray it on you. Either by air brush, or by machine. It costs $25 here (CA) and well worth it. I do it before I have some event I have to go to. It lasts about a week. I really like it. I go in the booth wearing bikini panties (you can go in naked if you want!) and that gives me a tan line to compare my fading to. But don't be surprised if you're a bit disappointed when you first get out. The tan gets darker as the hours go on, so be patient! The whole thing takes about 3 minutes and is well worth it!

I use ''Fake Bake'' Self tanning Lotion. I love it. It goes on really brown-- you have to use gloves--but in the morning when you shower it off you are left with a great tan! A normal looking tan. You can buy it at salons that sell tanning products.

I just tried the Banana Boat Sundial. Don't know yet how it'll work but right off the bat I noticed NO tanning lotion odor! biggrin.gif
