I have an appointment at the face place next week, I am thinking of fillers for the lines in my cheeks from nose to mouth.
They also do Botox as well as fillers, chemical peels and non surgical lifts.
Could I ask anyone for their experiences of these kind of treatments.
I am not hoping for a miracle, just not to look so tired all the time and also for those smile lines not to be there still once I have stopped smiling?

I've had botox in my "11" lines (the frown lines between the eyes). This also has the added benefit of stopping the eyelid tics I get. Also had IPL photo facial for the brown spots from sun and possibly BCP. IM me if you have other questions.

I have been contemplating these things as well!! I would love to hear of people's experiences...also thinking of getting the lips slightly plumped up...I don't want to look stupid, like so many of the hollywood actors do!!

I had both Restylane and Botox last year. The Botox worked really great on the frownies and also had the immediate effect of lifting the slight depression I was in at the time. I am thinking that the needle had an acupuncture effect. I was less impressed with the Resty...It caused a lot of bruising and also my nasal labial lines stayed kind of lumpy looking for quite some time. My skin has flattened out but I don't believe I will ever have the Resty done again...painful and too much bruising. Float: Be careful if you have your lips plumped. Be sure the person is certified.

I have had botox a few times. About every 4-5 months. This was for about 2 years. Now it seems as though I don't need it nearly as often. Also had restalayne. Loved it! It plumped up any lines around the mouth. The restalyne is great for very fine lines whcich i had.It hurts a little so ask to get numbed with novacain not just topical. I have a really high threshhold for pain and it still hurt w/o novacane. I am considering a new form of laser. Fractial laser (sp?) It really improves the skin and sun spots and it can be done in a 4 treatment or the new machine with 1 treatment. It is touted as the new miracle laser. No down time just a little redness. a friend got this and it looks amazing.

Personally I have never seen ANYONE who has had any type of lip treatment that does not look odd. It seems to change your appearance considerably. That is one that I will not consider. At least for now.

I had botox about four years ago. It was right before I met my husband and I had some extra cash at the time. I went to a skin medicine clinic and a nurse injected my "11" between my eyes, and also around my eyes.
I do have to say that the results were fabulous. I looked younger and like I was well rested. My only complaint is that the treatment is supposed to last for four to six months and for me. the effect was completely gone in 3 weeks. I have a fast metabolism and I break down drugs very quickly, so I attributied it to that.
If we ever get on our feet financially, I would consider doing it again.

SORRY ABOUT THAT!!!
My lazy wrists touched the pad on the laptop and somehow I ended up posting WAY before I was ready!!
Anyways...as I was saying..anytime anyone in our small town gets plastic surgery, everybody in town finds out!! I know of several women who have had breast implants and breast reductions. But I don't know anyone who has had face work done!! There are so many choices out there now, non surgical facial youth restoring procedures. What to do??

Provo, do you know the name of the new machine? I've had IPL but that takes a few times and if I can get it done with one visit that would be great. I have sun damage and spots I think are from BCP.
How are you, btw? Are your flashes still not flashing? Hope so!

Thank you all for your input, more positives then negatives I see which reassures me, also thanks to Choclate Woman whose name reminds me of the Mavis Attwood book the Edible Woman, for the link to the great info site.

I do the injectors all of the time. Yes, it's costly but it keeps me living in temporary dreamland whereby I feel/look young again. I've had all of HA's and just had Juvederm Ultra injected yesterday. They are temporary and the rate of absorbtion into the body of HAs (Juvederm Perlane, Restylane), varies from person to person. I found Restylane to last longer than Perlane, although Perlane is touted to last longer by others.

Interesting thread, but Prov, say if someone had an excellent job done on her lips, you wouldn't know she'd had it done.

Lips is one area I would consider if I needed it, and frown lines too. I still say no facelift for me, but who knows what I might do in the future.
Never say never, or I might have to eat my words.
I think we all should just do what makes us feel great!
I have Botox in forehead and between brows, about every 4 to 4.5 months. It makes a big difference. Techniques can differ, but my dermatologist does it so I can still raise my brows but it prevents a hard frown. It very very slightly lifts the brows and lightens the upper face.
I found that the longer I did it, the longer it lasted between treatments. It used to have worn off completely by 4 months; now it is still about 50% there at 4.5 months.
The makers of botox (Allergan) have a sort of rebate card. Each time you have it done, the card is recharged so that each appt you get $25 off the treatment. (every little bit helps...)
Haven't had fillers yet, but I'm definitely a candidate around my mouth. Wish the cost of these things would come down!

Again Ladies, thank you for you replies and views. I have four days until my appointment and although I am not committed am a little nervous.
How much do you all pay in the US?
The clinic I am going to is offering Botox at half price of £90.00 for a syringe and Restylane at £180.00. I have a voucher too and have saved my £2.00 coins and have £300.00 so hope I have enough on the special offer.
Depending on the results I can then decide what if any to keep up. It is pleasing to note though you who have had it done agree that the more you have it done the less frequently you need it. The clinic said this but you never know if it is just the hype!

$600 for Restylane, Perlane or Juverderm. $300 for Botox. I have mine done by my plastic surgeon (board certified) since I personally don't want anyone else touching my face. I live in the San Francisco bay area, so prices probably run higher here than in other parts of the country.

Ditto Gia....I paid exactly the same and I too live in the San Francisco Bay area.

P.S. I believe the reason I had so much trouble with the Resty is because I have deep acne scars on the sides of my mouth. Otherwise, it most likely would have been fine.

No, Zen, doesn't worry me!! Those deaths were pretty much confined to young children who were injected with huge amounts of Botox.

I can't say I find the Botox look too attractive. But that might be due to a bad result, making the upper face look like a mask.
I'd be more interested in the fillers - if you filled in your frown lines, how long might that last? And what helps with undereye circles which make me look tired whether I am or not?

I read Radiesse is the longest lasting filler. I think up to two years. I know someone who had it done and is happy with it. I am trying to find a good cosmetic dermatologist. I think it is also the most expensive one.

Well I had it done.....got a half price deal on the Botox - introductory and had the corners of my mouth done to stop then turning down and frowning look developing, did not hurt at all and felt the difference about 5 days later when drinking my tea, the cup just felt different, now I do not notice it and it did tweak up the corners a bit.
Returned two weeks later for the botox chack and had the facio labial lines filed with Perlane. Again on special offer so that was good and wow, looked so good straight away. One side bruised a bit and it did hurt a little but no more than my tatoo and over quicker!
Am so pleased and hopefully will last 6 months or so.

For those of you whose lines aren't terribly deep, Retin-A might work. It fluffed up my skin from around age 40 until now (55). Meno breaks down tissues, and my face shows it.
I'm considering treatments too. Lip, smile lines, crows feet, 11, headlines....

But I think, if this is necessary 3 to 4 times a year, two years worth of treatment would equal 1 face lift, which considering my lines, would probably be a better option.

congrats, amanda. Botox takes a few days to take effect, whereby the HA fillers like restylane are instant.
duch - you are correct...meno does a number on the skin at a FAST rate. I'm going through the dry skin all over my body now. I never had dry skin until this past year.

Ouch! Listening to all this makes me nauseous! Guess I'll just have to keep this bag over my head!!
Actually, to those of you who are good looking, I guess this type of work can keep you pretty. But I'm used to being ugly (I have deep "ice-pick" pitted acne scars, plus a 4 inch self-inflicted wound scar on my right cheek that I did as a teenager) and there is really nothing that can help me. Besides, wrinkles do not form over scar tissue.
