Had to take four advil just to touch the pain. Hurt like hell, gotta tell you. Happened same time last month and I thought it was kidneys stones. The ultra sound said it's a small cyst but it sure hurts like a big one. Does size matter? I think this might explain my little breakdown yesterday. My hormones are obviously going nuts. (I posted this somewhere else but I think it got buried. I'd really like to hear from someone who has experienced this.) Thanks everybody. You guys really helped me yesterday.

Over the past 36 years of menstruating, I've probably had 2 dozen instances of cysts. And some were incredibly painful. Even small ones. I think it matter where they are located and if they have a 'stalk'..some of them float around and create havoc. Try a heating pad, and some hot baths. Be careful with the advil...make sure you take it with food or you'll end with with GI bleeding...

If the cyst doesn't resolve itself within 3 cycles, you might want to check back with your doctor...

Thanks RR. Not sure what you mean by "float around." They aren't attached to the ovary or something? No, I didn't take the advil on an empty stomach. Since I haven't had a period for a while (and I've had two ablations) I am stumped by this. Ended up taking tylenol in the middle of the night last night, the pain was so bad. I'm so DONE with this!

chocolate: some cysts actually grow a stalk...they aren't directly attached to the ovary. I dont' think that is what is happening here. Have you every undergone any type of surgery on your pelvic area? If so, I think you may be having pain from scar tissue; adhesions they call it. I'm undergoing the same thing right now. As we age, our ovaries shrink, and the scar tissue stretches, and can produce incredible pain. You should call your doctor...let me know what happens..
