HI. Have been having tougher cycles, and recently after almost 2 weeks of it feeling like the first day of my period, the feeling subsided and there was (no way to put it delicately) an AWFUL stench. It went away in a couple days and then my period started (earlier again). When it ended, the odor came back for another couple days, but not as strong. It reminded me of something rotting? Could it be the ovaries cleaning themselves out? Anyone else encounter somthing similar? I've had many yeast/odor related problems and this was nothing like it. sad.gif

I did try to do a search, so if info is posted elsewhere please let me know. Thanks!

Hi,
I have noticed a change in vaginal odours since being in peri. Natures special perfume, as I will call it used to fluctuate at different stages in my cycle but has declined recently. This special perfume was stronger at specific times and could have a musky character. However it has never been unpleasant. Really nasty odours can signify infection of some sort. If it recurs I do think that you should get it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

Kind regards,

My guess is it's a bacterial infection. I'd call the doctor. They will call something in for you.

I would agree with Meryl, sounds like an infection...and not a common yeast infection. I would see or call your doctor.

I also agree - have this checked out by your doctor. Any new or unusual odors can certainly be indicative of a bacterial infection - and can easily be treated.
Best of luck to you,
Di

I am in peri and I also have this every month...it's almost a sweet smell, but it's not a regular vaginal odor at alll. I've been checked many times for infection or yeast, and it's neither..

my gyno says during peri and menopause our odor vaginally will change...it's different for everyone..but you can expect it to be different than what you are used to!

Hope this helps...I'm a nurse, and I don't think it's an infection. I think it's peri~!

Thanks Nurse Lisa & everyone. I'm in the middle of a hormone saliva test right now, so when I let my doc know I sent it off, I will still mention this to her (along with the million other latest things smile.gif )

The fact that it was there for a couple days, went away, came back a bit again for a couple days, then went away is what was making make me think (hoping) it may not be an infection, but since I sometimes feel like I'm falling apart...its always a "what's wrong now!!!". It really did feel like my ovaries were in a state of period-starting for almost 2 weeks. The thought of having to possibly take yet another pill gets me a bit down these days huh.gif

I appreciate everyones info and tips, and will keep an 'eye' (and nose I guess) on this, and keep my doc posted too.
