What do you all do for hot flashes? Anything that works? I was always proud to say that I never have had hot flashes - I've been going through perimeno since I was 42, and am now 51. I have just begun to have hot flashes and sweating. I think it has something to do with the fact that my periods are finally becoming scarce, and my hormones are changing again. I am taking several herbal products that have helped me tremendously and I exercise 5 days a week without fail. I was doing really well and now this! What do you recommend? I DO NOT want to go on hormone therapy of any kind.

Hi, Lisa- I'm afraid I don't have any good advice! My hot flashes tend to come and go. I can go several months without any and then they come back and I'll several per day. I cannot take any hormones. Do you get them mostly at night or in the day? I find that if I sleep in lighter pj's and with just a sheet and light blanket, I don't seem to get as many. But there are times that the blanket goes off and on many times during the night! I also sleep with a fan on. In the daytime, I wear cooler clothes, in layers, like a t-shirt with a light jacket, so I can take the jacket off if I get too hot. Ice cream, cold water, my bare feet on the tile floor and standing outside in the chilly air all help, too! laugh.gif

I know some ladies have had success with soy. Maybe someone else will chime in with some better advice for you. Try reading thru some of the posts if you haven't all ready. Maybe you will find some answers. Good luck! Gardenbear
