Freuda
Hi Girls,

I have asked a similar sort of question in the past, but instead of just looking at the hormonal factor of peri can anyone shed any light on what is actually happening to the womb. I have had a lot of back ache lately, to the point that I am extremely uncomfortable sitting and lying in bed. This pain also runs down the legs. A friend of mine who is 50 is also experiencing terrible back ache as well, she recently went to a physio who told her that the womb presses on everything and can cause back pain. Very interested to hear if anyone else has heard this theory. Hense my question, what happens to the womb? Has anyone stumbled across any diagrams of what is happing to the womb during the phases reaching to menopause.

Thanks

Freuda

Freuda: Great question---I'm one full year without periods and still getting the cramping. Sometimes it's in back and it also goes down my legs. I asked my gynecologist about it and she said that when the body is nearing the end of peri, the uterus (womb) can still contract sometimes...from fluctuating hormones. And the contractions cause pain. But--she said it should stop eventually. I hope so...

Freuda~ I'm 1 year without a period also and my legs ache more now than they did when I was a kid. I used to get those awful growing pains (remember those?) but now my back and legs hurt at the same time. I'm convinced it's hormonal. I've resorted to buying those bath salts for aches and pains. I think they have magnesium which does help the pain. I get it at Walmart. Village Naturals, mineral bath soaks. Feel better soon~~

Hi Freuda,
Your question interested me so I have looked around the net for some answers and found this statement: During menopause the ligments that support the womb become weaker and as a result the tendency for the womb to 'come down' (prolapse) increases.
Hope this helps in some way.
Hugs
