I'll be 44 next month. In my younger days, my periods came like clockwork every 29 days and would last 5 days. Now, they are coming anywhere between 25-27 days usually and this month it's been here for 8 days and the first couple of days was heavier than usual. I can't remember ever having one last this long. The last three days has just been spotting (red). Is this normal with perimenopause?
I have noticed within the last few months I have had some hot flashes...just randomly happening. Anxiety has been AWFUL,I am up two and three times a night and have trouble going back to sleep. I'm going to call the dr. next week, but I just need to know if any of you ladies had peri just slip up on you and then bam! you feel like cr@p. Thanks!

Hello annem,

So happy to have you here--this is the most wonderful community of women you can imagine.

Whatever your symptoms, you will find people to empathize or at least sympathize. I have been saved many times from the pits just by coming to the site and reading other women's stories.

Post early and often. smile.gif And hang in. It may be a bumpy ride or it may be relatively painless. We just never know.

All the best,
Marcy

Yep - welcome to the meno-wagon! I am 40 and my periods too, were always every 28 days. Until this last time. My last period was the day after Christmas! blink.gif I am getting nervous, wracking my brain and trying to think back if hubby and I could have POSSIBLY gotten me pregnant, but he has had a vasectomy! So yes, this journey is often confusing, filled with daily new symptoms and worries. But fear not my friend - we are here to answer each other's questions and reassure each other that we aren't dying... smile.gif

Well, I'm still spotting; off and on....usually in the afternoons. I just don't understand how you can go from having a normal, regular period and then BAM! it goes completely out of the norm the next month. I am a worrier by nature and this is just putting my anxiety through the roof. I sit here and read all the posts and feel better for a while and then start worrying again. Thanks, ladies for the support.
