Hi Ladies,
Please help. I am so confused. I am 47. I started having anxiety and my OB-GYN put me on the Nuvaring.
That made matters worse. I found a doctor specializing in bioidentical hormones. She put me on 100 mg progesterone for the first half of my cycle and 200mg for the second half. She put me on bi-est 50/50 .25mg day. I started her program when my period ended.. Eight days into her program I had another period. Her office was closed and no one returned my call, so I kept taking the progesterone during my period. When I did get in touch with her she switched me to the estriol patch 0.025 easier to use and cause I am a swimmer and maybe all the cream was not getting absorbed.

I am scared because these hormones are so complicated and she had me do the spit test when I was on the nuva ring so what good are those results? Do you think I am safe taking these hormones like this? The progesterone makes me feel GREAT. Very relaxed.

The other problem was that once I started her program I started having this racing heart blast wake me up early in the morning... I had that initially, but the Nuva ring did take care of that, so I think it is because of a hormonal imbalance. Maybe it is because of taking the progesterone during my period.

I just don't know what to do. If anyone has any advice I would love it. I want to feel better, but I want to be safe. The progsterone dose sounds high... I think I would be better off just taking it the second part of my cycle.

HELP!

It sounds like you are taking a lot of progesterone. Why don't you ask your doctor about skipping the 100 mg of progesterone during the first half of your cycle and just taking the 200 during the second half. Has the anxiety been your only symptom? That was my main symptom (actually still is) too. It's definitely no fun! Have you had your FSH tested? To be accurate, it would have to be checked when you are off of the hormones. It would probably help to know if you are really in peri-meno before you work on your hormones. And I can tell you that it usually takes some trial and error and then just when you think you've got it right, something changes! Let us know how you do.
Pam
P.S. I'm 47 too.
