Has anyone found that HRT or BHRT helps with their palps? I just started taking 1 mg oral estradiol a week and a half ago. So far it hasn't impacted mine much. Right now I've got a cold and the palps are pretty bad-meaning constantly there!. Since I know they are benign I'm not too worried, but I liked it much better when they weren't there so much!

I wonder if it is the lack of estrogen or just fluctuating hormones that triggers the palps?

I am taking bcp's and the palps are still there on and off. Lately more on than off. I've been tested and retested so I know I am fine, but I dont' fell like that when I start palping. It is sooooo annoying. SO, in my experience it hasn't really helped that symptom, but my overall mood and anxiety is better, not gone completely, but better. I was told nothing will make them all go away, we constantly fluctuate so no meds can keep up with that, but some will lessen it. Goodluck to you.

I DON'T GET PALPS AND BEEN ON LOW DOSE OF HRT FOR 9 MONTHS. BUT I DO TAKE BLOOD PRESSURE PILL TOO WHICH MIGHT HELP

Also taking BCPs, I have still had mild palps but nothing like I had before taking hormones. It took a couple of weeks to see the difference for me. Mild palps during my off week of the BCP, other than that no problems.

I am on HRT .625. I thought I was going to be wonder woman and not take ANYTHING after my hysterectomy due to endometriosis. well, lo and behold I was renting a DVD and right there in the store I had a heart palp in which my heart skipped a beat and then came the BIGGEST thud I have ever had. It freaked me out so bad I had this HUGE adrenaline rush and then felt dizzy. I decided right then and there I had to have help. Sure, you can go on worrying for the rest of your life if you are going to have a rare blood clot or a heart attack from taking HRT, but what about your quality of life?

Long story short, I have heart palps still, but none like the big whammies that make me think I'm about to have a heart attack. My doctor says I will only be on hormones for 4-5 years (unlike what dr's used to say about being on them for the rest of your life)...I am 34. I already dread 5 years from now being weaned off of them and then having a big heart palp. I already deal with anxiety, so when I have one of these big ones, it really scares me.

I've been on bhrt for a couple of years but I think what really helps with the palps is magnesium. I saw a BIG difference after starting that. I hardly get them anymore.

I am wondering how much magnesium to take a day. I have heard people taking over 1000..but when you do the math, it's like almost 300% a day.

Don't worry about them so much...I have at least a couple big thudders a week, and every day I have some smaller thudders. They haven't hurt yet. I figure if I go a morning or afternoon without any, it's a good day! I've started BHRT, but haven't felt much of an effect yet.

I haven't tried magnesium, but I'm a bit afraid to experiment, since I already take a beta blocker for it and that helps a little. Don't want to mess things up even more! With me they tend to come and go so it's hard to say what helps and what doesn't. Peri/menopause has definitely made them worse though!

I take a 250mg tablet in the morning with breakfast, along with calcium. You really should take one with the other. Magnesium can give you loose bm's and calcium tends to bind more so they even each other out! If I have too much chocolate or tea, I notice more of the thuds so I'll take an extra tablet at supper but one seems to do pretty good. I was taking 2 a day when I first started them.

Another perk is that migraines seem to be lessened while taking magnesium, at least according to my sister! smile.gif
