Louise,

I started my anxiety attacks shortly after I started to have hot flashes regularly opposed to having them sporadically and far between along with cold flashes but I don't know if they are related or what. I do know that the BHRT has pretty much eliminated the hot and cold flashes but the anxiety attacks still occur....I would have rather kept the flashes over this constant sense of nervousness.

I think a lot of women have anxiety attacks with flashes.

I personally do not think mine are directly related. I had flashes for years before I realized I was even experiencing anxiety...I didn't even know what it was, had no name for it, as it was merely a physical sensation. I didn't like it, but never thought it was anxiety. However when they spiralled into panic/anxiety attacks, where I would hyerventilate myself to near unconciousness!! Well then I sat up and took notice! I have mine under control by taking Paxil, L-Theanine, BHRT and Ativan when necessary (which thankfully is rarely now!).

Yes, just a few minutes ago! I was sitting down at my computer at work typing away as usual and BAM - got a little dizzy and all of a sudden found it difficult to breath like someone was standing on my chest, and my heart started fluttering. Which of course immediately started me panicking. I sat back in my chair, took a deep breath, told myself it was just hormones, turned the radio off, and it sort of diminished. I feel very low in E today. It has been 46 days since my last period so my hormones are completely out of whack right now...plus I have that dull headachey thing going on. dry.gif

So to answer your question about experiencing anxiety/flashes - YES, ALL THE TIME!! mad.gif It is the worst feeling for me - the panic and dizziness (and headaches too).

Do you use projestrone cream? i am trying it hoping it will help with flashes. 26 days no period and my sysptoms have gone on for exactly 36 days. Will the cream bring on my period or just screw everything up so more?

I am using OTC progesterone cream (Progest) and just restarted taking it a few days ago to try to get things going period wise. I am told that the OTC stuff doesn't work like the "real" prescription P protection wise (thinning out endo) so I MAY have to get some P gel or something. However, I will say, that even on the OTC P, I experience more zits than usual so I know it's doing SOMETHING. I get those High School honkin' zits on my chin using the OTC Progesterone. Don't notice much else in the way of side effects.

The hot flashes would make me have heart flutters, which made my anxiety go up.I also had morning rushes that had both a hot flash and adrenaline surge all rolled into one-I hated those!!I only get them every once in a while now,and have found that taking magnesium before bed seems to keep those bad surges at bay.GODbless

I had the same hope, too, Provobabe. All I seem to do however, is trade one symptom for another. At least they don't all hit at the same time. Must say that the horrible anxiety/cry spells are almost non-existent since I started skipping a lot. That has been replaced with night sweats, asthma, and today my personal favorite, kidney stones.

I hope you get some relief from the insomnia. I will keep kidney stones over THAT. It just seems to make everything else worse when your sleep is messed up. I really feel for you.

I used to live in Huntsville, AL, btw. That was more than 25 years ago. I'm sure it's changed a lot.

Provobabe.....

I doubt the OTC P cream will bring on a period....in order to have a period you have to have sufficient E...and then the P has to drop off to almost nil...then you get a period! For me, symptoms were managable until I stopped having periods. I went for a little over a year having a period every 3 months, having hot flashes in between, and insomnia from waking to hot flashes....had the dizzies, lightheadedness, but was functional...worked, took care of the house, etc. When my periods stopped I got worse and worse...then had some really big life stresses, including 3 family deaths....and I crashed, and crashed HARD!!

It has been a struggle to get myself back to somewhat normalish...functional anyways! Watch out for stress, it is a KILLER during menopause!! I ended up close to bedridden, certainly agoraphobic, suffering with anxiety, panic attacks....yikes it was terrible!! I would not wish that on anyone!!
