Power Surge Forums > Board Discussions > Am I Starting Perimenopause?
sooverit42
Hi ,

I wasn't sure where to post this and I had started here back a few months ago asking whether I was in Perimenopause. Well hold on to your hats ... . I find myself at the tender age of 42.... ohmy.gif pregnant !! I am in complete shock and disbelief. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago b/c my period was a few days late and my breasts were really sore. Well lo and behold there was a plus sign. I walked into the living room and told my husband and then proceeded to cry. I was not happy about it and was having panic attacks all night about it. I have 2 children who are 5 and 3 and now it looks like I will be having number 3 at 42!!! (well actually I will be 43 when I have it).. lol.. I feel better about it all now that I have had time to think and get my head wrapped around it. I am scared and am feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing but I am going to look at this as a blessing and go from here. My husband is very happy about it so that is not an issue. I will have to find a good doctor and then also find out for sure if this is what is happening to me. Its so crazy to be in this situation at this time in my life. My husband and I have been married for 19 years and for 10 years we tried to get pregnant with no success. We then found ourselves going the high tech route and tried IVF when I was 36. We tried it one time and it worked. We have a 5 year old son from that. I then found myself pregnant with my daughter naturally and she is now 3! I think its just hilarious that I am more fertile now then I was in my 20's! .. . What is up with that! .. LOL! Anyway I just felt like sharing and I also wanted to know if maybe I could have had a false positive??? I mean I definitely have been going through perimenopause and I still feel like I am to some degree. I still have some trouble sleeping and I have anxiety. I don't know what to think. My body sure has a funny sense of humor thats all I can say.
Thanks for listening!

Congratulations!!!!!

One thing about peri, you still can get pregnant! I doubt you have a false positive, and perhaps this baby is meant to be! Could be there was a reason for you to have your children later in life. I would also think, but don't really KNOW, that your peri symptoms will go away during your pregnancy...just be really aware afterwards, you could suffer worse peri symptoms. I haven't personally experienced that as I had my children very young, but I have heard other women say that peri hit them hard after having late babies

Enjoy your new baby! Three kids is a great number!!

What a wonderful surprise for you!
I had my last baby at 44, barely. My birthday was just 2 weeks before my baby was born.
She is now 3 1/2 and the sweetest girl you could know.
Your kids are going to be perfectly spaced!
