Is there anything out there that is less expensive than Prometrium? My copay is $30 for 10 100 mg pills!
Okay, I'm going to sound completely stupid, but I don't know what Prometrium is. Is it an HRT of some kind? If so, I learned from my compounding pharmacist that HRT in pill form is thought to be responsible for the problems some women had with cancer due to HRT from the HRT studies done a few years ago. Bio-identical estrogen/progesterone/testosterone are the main HRT treatments being used now more safely because they are administered in a topical cream on the skin. I pay a $40 copay for these, but they are worth it. The over-the-counter stuff is not in pure form and you can't get real estrogen without a prescription anyway. It's not generally recommended to take progesterone unopposed, so it makes sense to use the bio-identical creams that have a combination of the two. Testosterone in a small dose is often added to the Estrogen and Progesterone for energy and libido. Anyway, that's what I've learned from months of study following some harrowing experiences with all things peri-menopause. Still dealing with trying to level out, as have only been on the HRT a week. But, am hoping for the best. Already seeing increase in energy.
