Hi Everyone,
I've decided to tell my story so far but its where do you begin.... I know I need some help and advice to get through this time of my life but it does help looking around and reading other posts on here as I'm not getting any anywhere else.. So I'll begin and I'm sorry if its long winded.
From a very early age I just knew I wouldn't be able to have children, When I met my husband at the age of 19 I told him this and we decided to go and have test done, I was never having regular periods so went along to the Docs had loads of tests and was told that I wasn't ovulating so along came the fertilty drugs which never worked so back for more tests, To cut a long story short I was found to have blocked tubes. I had the op to have them unblock then given more fertility drugs, Still no luck.
Had IVF which resulted in the birth of our beloved child. Since the birth my periods became very regular every 28 days on the dot for 6 and a half years now for the last 6 months or so I've had some very strange goings on...
First I had my first ever panic attack, felt so unreal for 2 whole weeks with loads of gas and a foggy head (lost weight. four weeks later I just started crying and crying, went to see my doc and just started crying my eyes out he gave me a tissue and some antidepressants. Which I only took for 6 days. Then I start to wake up soaking wet in the middle of the night, so I put two and two together and think back that all these things happen just before my period is due about 10 days before. So again I go back to the Docs and tell him I think I'm in perimenopause, Like everyone else I'm told your to young (I'm 34 by the way)... I insisted on having the blood test done, when these came back he told me they are inconclusive.... What does that mean???
I'm not getting any help and just wondered if anyone could give me some much needed advice, Have I had to many fertility drugs in the past?
Warmest regards

First off call and ask for a copy of your blood work and then take them to your gyn have a check up and go from there. Yeah you will probably continue to be told you are to young but worth a shot to have your levels checked again. You are describing some of the things I went through and I am still not being told I am in peri, only that I am/was not ovulating all the time. My treatment is currently birth control pills to level out my hormones and so far that seems to be helping me. Don't take no for an answer! Keep on until you find a doctor that will test properly and figure out what is going on. Start keeping a journal as well that really really helps you and your doctor see what is going on and when.

Thanks davinci817 for your reply I've seen about four different doctors and always told the same... I did ask for the birth control pill and as the last time I was on them I had an allergic reaction to them (which was many years ago) he said he would think about it.. I will ask for the paper work and keep on at them for more tests.

Dear honey,
Welcome to Power-Surge. I am sorry we are all meeting you under such difficult circumstances.
I am sure the suggestion to go to yet another doctor will make you react strongly, but if I were you, I would do exactly that. The answer "You are too young for peri" is simply not acceptable. Truth be told, it does not matter what stage of peri you may be in. You are having very difficult symptoms and need help. Some doctors can be real jackasses, can't they?
Are you close enough to a university medical center to see a doctor there? Academic physicians like unusual cases, so you may get more attention than you do from a private doc. I would not stop until I got answers, some relief, and a good relationship for ongoing support.
Please let us know how you are doing.
Best,
Marcy

You can take your last blood work and research online for the right levels. Or probably even ask some of the gals here on PS. Keep in mind that test can be pretty much bogus when it comes to hormones if they aren't tested at the right time.
At around 33 I saw a doctor who told me she thought I was in peri and prescribed sarafem. I took it for three months and it pulled me out of those feelings. Mind you now at 37 pushing 38 no one will even dance with the chance I might be peri. It is all very frustrating!
Keep us updated!

Hi Honeylicks,
It sounds like you are in Premenapause alright.
My Mum started when she was 39 so your not far off her age at all. Most doctors dont know what else to say apart from **Your to young**. Well hello everyone is different. Some start younger than others.
I hope you find the answers that your looking for. Keep pushing untill you get the results that you deserve.
Good luck with things.
Take Care. From Deb

honeylicks,
you've heard from some of the best here & they've given you good advice. it does sound like you are having hormonal problems, whatever we choose to call it. in dr.vliet's book, 'it's my ovaries, stupid,' she examines various causes of hormonal problems. & she repeats what is clear here - yes, you can be in your 30s (or younger) & have problems. the book is geared at younger women, like yourself, & i found it to be a helpful educational resource. you may want to check it out & see if it is a book that may resonate with you.
i wish you luck as you move forward. finding a doctor willing to listen to us & work with us, hasn't been easy for many here. but hopefully instead of them just throwing stuff at you, you will be able to establish some baseline information that may help to give you a clearer idea of what your possible treatment options may be. i didn't have an allergic reaction to bcps but i did have an extremely bad reaction to them about a year & a half ago. yet i used them on & off throughout my 20s & 30s without such severe effects. i would be curious as to what you reacted to in them (though i'm not sure the doctors will be as curious).
good luck to you,
ellen

Is it possible to have a temporary hormone imbalance as opposed to actual peri?
Honeylicks, I am in the same boat in that i am almost 36 but had the same night sweats at your age - maybe the start of it all for me. With recent increase in symptoms (including the gas and foggy feeling you have now), my doc thinks it's possible i'm in peri. I'm the one that needs convincing though. I'm the one that keeps thinkng i'm too young. But the more i read, the more women i see in their mid 30's going through this. I guess it's really not so uncommon. Even a couple of books i have start the age range at 35. My tests didn't reveal anything either since i'm on birth control. I'm stopping it though to see if i can get a better clue as to what's going on.

Thank you all so much for your very kind words and advice, I will take on board all your suggestions, I know that I've always had an hormonal inbalance but I've never had any symptoms like this before.
Ellen my allergic reaction to the BCP was very bad sun sensitivety, I was only seventeen at the time...
Hugs to you all
