Hi I was just wondering if anyone has had this type of hot flush. I was sitting here on the computer and my hot flush went from 0-100 degrees within seconds, maybe like 10 seconds. I think I normally have a flush or sweat build up over a minete or two (not really sure). But this came on so fast I didn't have time to reach for a fan of some sort! I have my sweat or flush in my face and my back, makes it hard when driving have to turn the aircon on full blast in my face biggrin.gif I'm now taking red clover to see if it will help. If this goes on for too much longer I may consider HRT, I don't think I could stand another summer like this!! Can't wait for winter. The flushes/sweats are worse now I'm post, heard from a meno clinic that they are worse when your periods stop. I thought I had enough for 8 years with tremors, anxiety, zapping, sleeplessness, etc but no it continues!! Still have tremors too, FRUSTRATING!!

Hi choco,

I have the same thing going on.....I was getting hot flushes/sweating for 4 months almost every hour or less, then they weren't as frequent, then the frequency increased again, now on back to decrease again this past week. Hot & sweaty....I'm hot, I'm cold....geesh.....I tried acupuncture and something called Simplex F that acupuncturist recommended and it helped tremendously but I stopped taking them after I read what it was that I was taking.

Hoping you feel better soon.

Hugs,
Karen

choco,

I found that the summer was almost unbearable regarding flashing. I couldn't even tell half the time if I was hot from the weather or flashing, it was so constant! When the cooler weather arrived the flashing did slow down considerably, but didn't stop. The daytime flashing was much less....but the evenings and nights were still horrible. I did opt for bio identical pharmaceutical hormone replacement and 6 or 7 weeks into it, no flashing AT ALL!! What a break...although since our weather has turned arctic (-46C at times!) I have almost wished for the flashes to come back, just to warm me up a little! biggrin.gif I didn't chose the BHRT to help with flashes, I needed to get rid of anxiety, low energy, loss of motivation, some panic...more the mental issues...but it took care of everything!!

oh yes... choco, i sympathise entirely.. i'm only just on 11 months without a period now, but the hot flashes have been steadily worse this past year.. summer does not help! but i think i prefer the flashes in summer - i'm already dressed for it for starters, unlike winter where i am taking layers off, and then putting them back on constantly, and ar con does not get as confused - heat the room, no cool it down! my poor husband does not have to freeze...

yes.. like you described, i can go from comfortable in an air con'd room, to unbearably hot in a flash! (excuse that one, i couldn't resist it smile.gif) i think i probably have the whole range of flashes, from the slow buildup to the sudden heat.. i sweat like crazy.. i hate it so much, but unlike Floater (no offence float... smile.gif ) i will not go for HRT... i was thinking of Promensil maybe, or Remifemin, but the doc i talked to thinks they have the same kind of risks as conventional HRT..

Thanks ladies for the replies. What I'm taking now Zen is Promensil, tried remefemin but the sweats kept breaking through. I'm not sure about these being as bad as HRT as HRT is I guess, a synthetic hormone where as Red Clover and Black Cohosh are plants. I had flushes end of last summer and into winter and they just got so much worse I had to do something. I know what you mean I didn't wear winter clothes Zen and it was still jumper on jumper off, more the cardi sort so quick to take off biggrin.gif Then there would be the occasion I would be so cold I'd have 2 jumpers on for about half and hour then all of a sudden have to take them off....It's enough to drive us nuts!! I had the opportunity to take part in research for a new drug, but chickened out. There are 3 ways, the drug, dummy tablet and a natural med. I had to do a lot of running around to and fro to Perth so it put me off a bit. Plus I was a bit scared of getting the drug. I couldn't handle this anymore so am trying a more natural approach. I hope it works soon!

I hope the HRT works well for you Float! What was wrong with the Simplex F Kar?

Well, I am still in peri, but I can totally relate to this topic! I can go months without any flashes, but now they are back. This happens to me mostly at night. I will be comfortable and all of a sudden, I am burning up and sweating! I can't get the covers off fast enough! They don't last long, but then I get chills and have to cover up again. I have it happen in the day, too. I'll be fine and then I feel like my face is on fire and I start taking off the sweatshirt and flapping my shirt to cool off. And, I also have the times where I cannot get warm, no matter how many layers or blankets I have on. Drives me crazy! Gardenbear

Choco,
Mine were like this for awhile too after my period stopped. I don't know how long it is for you but I am almost 2 years without a period now and any hot flashes I get are much weaker and very short lived. I know how you feel though, I thought I would die from the constant heat and sweating to the point that I didn't even want to put my clothes on. It does seem to get better. Arla.

Thanks arla and gardenbear I am coming up to 2 years next July. These have got worse the last year. I will take the Red clover a year then come off and see what happens, nothing I hope biggrin.gif Like tremors etc it will get better, fingers crossed!!
