HI all,

Just was wondering ...I am pretty sure i didn't ovulate this month. I have had bad pain on my R. side since my early 20's. Over the last year there have been times where it wasn't there and others where it is very mild. It started to come right after my period...the next day of it ending during the past yr. or so. I have noticed when I didn't get pain I get my period a week or so after the other ended. I didn't feel anything this mo., but now again feel like I am geting a period again with all the achyness and other signs. I thought you missed period with no ovulation not get them on top of eachother? I guess I was obviously confused. HUGS MIkki

From what I have come to understand is that in peri you do not always ovulate. That is the cause for light periods and endometrium thickening. When you finally DO ovulate, the period will be heavy because of the needed release of progesterone that assists in shedding the endometrium.
If the uterus enlarges (after not ovulating frequenly enough) it can put pressure on surrounding organs, hence, pain in some cases.
I am all over the place the last 2 months and have cramps and everything PMS but no period just yet. Wondering if this may be my first missed period :0(

I am often curious as to how one can tell when they do not ovulate. I hear lots of ladies say they monitor their ovulation. How is that done? Just curious.

so I suppose that is what is called "phantom" periods

bchgrl65...I went in to DR. back in my early 20's with right side pain, pain so bad at times It ws painful to walk or sit, go to the bathroom... anyyhing that put pressure on my groin area. After examining me she said I was ovulating. From there on every mo. the same thing until now. I don't know how others tell, temp. or discharge...I am not sure . As I satrted peri Ovulation became just as difficult as pms or it seemed to have some of the same feelings. The pain now is sometimes not there and neither is the typical mucous that goes with it or the pain is very faint. So I am assuming I am not at timessince this has been my history and my fsh is on the rise which I think means my ovaries are having to be stimulated more to ovulate.

I have noticed a pain at times on one side or the other that I assumed was ovulation, but I don't have it every month. I think I have more of the egg white mucus discharge that I notice more often than the pain. I was told I was not ovulating once when I did a test, but who knows based on when the test was done. I had breakthrough bleeding the month before so that is why doc did that test. I would think it would be hard to actually tell when one is ovulating or not without an actual test, other than those women having menstrual irregularities. That would be the biggest indicator in my opinion (missed periods, 2 periods in one month, etc.)

I think I'm in the same boat here. I don't think I ovulated last week. Usually I get the discharge, mucousy sticky stuff, and a slight pain on one side or the other. Didn't feel a thing this time, and no discharge. MANY more hot flashes too. A year ago is when I first started to be irregular (I'm almost 54)...have never skipped a period, but they started to be later. Until last summer when something got all screwed up and I had the 2-month long marathon spotting/dribbling period. After some prometrium, that ended, and since October I've been very regular, every 28 days, just like always. Until this time...something is different. Different feeling...low pressure achiness in pelvic area..very pmsy, flashing ALOT...maybe this will be my first skipped one??

Hi All. I skipped 1 period in FEB of last year. It was the only time I had Hot flashes. I skipped This months period with Hotflashes like crazy. 5-6 a day or more. Then I was having all this bloating, lower back stiffness, general abdomen discomfort and crampiness. This was all month long!!! Now I am 7-10 days out from next scheduled period and still feel the same way. Does everyone feel worse with skipped periods???I am anxiously awaiting this period so at least after it's over maybe there will be relief. The health anxiety goes upp a notch or 10 the longer this goes on.
ADVICE?????

Hi Provobabe!
I'm in that boat of uncertainty as well. I feel absolutely awful. I've never been soooo wiped out, heavy head and eyes, cramps, headache and if I am following the cycle of my last bleed, I should have my period by now. I always spot a day or 2 before but not even that. I'm even bummed out that I haven't had any night sweats in a couple of weeks...that is always my tell tale sign of an imminent period :0( I REALLY wish I would get my period. I have a feeling I will feel like a new person.
My panic isn't high because I was just at the Dr. Jan 3rd for dysfunctional bleeding but my breasts have gotten worse ( I'm a *Fibro* girl) . But yes, it seems that when my period takes longer to come, the worse shape I am in. Maybe to much estrogen for our bodies to handle???!?
Feel better real soon!
Hugs,
Girlsmom

Hi! When your in Peri-menopause, your hormone changes can cause you to not ovulate in any particular month. I know when I ovulate I get the pain on the side until the egg releases. After that its gone. When you don't ovulate, your periods are usually alittle lighter, at least mine are. I've been in peri for 10 yrs now and I only skipped 1 period so far. I ca smile.gif n't wait until I start skipping them more!

well I was right on the money... off I go again with my period only a week after the last. I guess well see if it is light it never usually is even this close to eachother...I don't know where it all comes from. like I said in the past no point in trying to figure it out I just am long for the ride wherever it takes me rolleyes.gif
