hi everyone ... I am confused about ovulation, .. i get so many diff. opinions! between what i read on the net, or some forums and posts here or other health forums, natural alternative forums, my dr., his nurse...the nurse who lives down the block, and jsut from what i know myself....geez, i feel like I dont' know anymore! OK, first of all, during PERI, isn't it true that you can ovulate WHENEVER?! Our bodies and hormones are completely nuts, so I imagine, ovulation goes haywire too, right?
So, isn't it very very possible to ovulate at any time? I 've read that here on one of the forums, which gave me some relief, thank God! Now, another question, for which i have received many diff. answers once again.....HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? ok, here we go, bec. i've heard it lasts for only a few hrs...to a few days. Obviously, every woman is different, and during PERI this may change, I suppose it can last as long as it needs to, am i right? I know some ladies here(including myself) have what seems to be ovulation pain and that heavy pre period feeling starting right up again, only a few days after your period has ended...now, that is what happ.'d to me this month. About 2 days after my period ended, here we go again! It felt like I was going to get my period again, lots of that heavy hanging, crampy, "churning" in the lower abdomen feeling, with that pre period feeling in your vagina. That was only about 2 days after my period ended! THIS HAS NEVER HAPP.D TO ME BEFORE, and so I'm thinking, PERI! But, it's still here, some days less, other days worse...like today! For most of the day today, i had these stabbing pains in my left ovary, which would send shooting pains to my left hip, and right through my body to my tailbone! (that only happ.d twice), but the cramping and stabbing pains in the left ovary have continued all day. It almost feels as if there's something "in there"...I had a cyst on my RIGHT ovary way back in 1982, but it took care of itself. From what i know, i haven't had any since, unless i did, and perhaps it burst, and that was that....but what i mean is, that i've never really had all this pain and discomfort again...UNTIL NOW. This also makes me feel nauseas, and really SICK. I don't have much of an appetite, but I do from time to time, and then i eat. I do notice, that SOMETIEMS, after i eat, i feels WORSE down there, much worse! (I do have a mild case of IBS). But, now, as of about an hour ago, this awful pain/cramping/ache has moved to my right ovary! I also feel as though the lower abdominal muscles are so sore, and tight, so that even to sit and urinate, almost hurts those lower abdominal muscles, bec. i have to relax them, and their so so tight! (this is somehting I'v had before.).

Point is, what the heck is this? Thsi is day 4, and I'm loosing it. I get so scared...but then again, i think it must be hormonal. It just started in on Sat. evening, and is still here. Like i said, it's on and off, but today it's more on than off.
My right ovary, SO FAR, hadn't had those stabbing pains, like the left one did....the right one has more of a deep ache....but it also feels like my uterus has a deep ache, on and off. UGH! mad.gif So, i guess, the question is...how many days after your period is OVER, can this type of pain go on? or how soon can you actually begin ovulating? and how darn long does ovulation really last?!!!! On Sunday, the first real FULL day of all this ache and pain down there, i noticed, on the TP, that thre was that clear mucus stuff, taht comes out during ovulation....so, i figured taht had been the problem,,,yet, this awful ache/pain/cramping is still here, in lower abdomen and ovaries. I noticed some of that ovulation stuff, on the TP again, yesterday, and today, so I' m assuming this is STILL ovulation???????? I don't know what the heck to think!

anyone, help! LOL .... this is driving me nutty...i have an appt. on feb. 4th, but I'll be driving my self insane till then with every fear known to man!

thank you ladies, for all your help! Sincerely, MyDArling

Hi My Darling,

Jessie here again! As posted before, I have been experiencing the same symptoms as you - including, by the way, the left sided pain which goes into my groin (maybe ovary - not sure) and through my hip. I also get it on the right, but not as badly. Low back pain which gets worse at night and seems to improve once I get up and start moving around. Low abdominal feelings of discomfort and heaviness. And I'm now nearly two weeks post period!! I had one day of feeling better, but then the symptoms came back. I think it's related to ovulation, but I'm sure if your hormones are all over the place you can have twinges in your ovaries and the pelvic discomfort even when you're not ovulating.sure with me there's an IBS connection too, difficult to know sometimes if the left-sided pains are from my intestines or my ovary - they may even be due to tight muscles in that area. Believe me, I know it's worrying, I'm worried too!

BUT I know that it's possible to have all these symptoms and not have anything seriously wrong - hormones, as we know, can play all kinds of tricks on our minds and our bodies. Hope it helps at least to know that you're not going through this alone. If you're really anxious, can't you make an earlier appointment to see your regular doctor to get some reassurance? Not sure how it works over there, as I'm from the UK. Also, conditions like endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and fibroids, can cause pelvic pain and discomfort, and while none of these conditions is pleasant, they're not, to my knowledge, life threatening! Take care, Jess xx

oh thank you so much Jessie! thank you for posting! yes, this DOES make me feel better! THANK YOU!
how old are you? Did these symtpoms in the lower abdomen and ovary area, begin about 2 days after you finished your last period, that's what happ.d with me. This is very interesting....has this ever happ.d to you before, this is the first time for me. Now. .. as I'm sitting here typing this, there is this burning feeling under the vaginal lips, not up in the vagina, just under the "lips", UGH! what the heck?! this is insane! You know, if I KNEW FOR SURE this was all PERI, at least, the worry would be gone, and I could deal with the symptoms better. No, I called back, I can't get an earlier appt....but she said if one should open up, they'll call me. They never do.

Have you gone for a full exam latley? and, also, does any of these "feelings" make you feel nauseas? I wasn't sure if it was these symptoms making me feel nauseas, or just plain old PERI......

ok Jessie, I hope you feel better yourself, and thank you again for posting! Sincerely, MyDarling
