Full Version: maybe ovulation pain?

hi girls, ... I posted below yesterday, about "are these symptoms normal?"..... I was wondering, maybe this is that ovulation pain I've heard discussed here? I know there is a German word for it, and I can't think of it now,,,but it refers to that pre-period, crampy heavy feeling in the uterus, ovary area during ovulation. Now, TODAY, it's the same...there is no more blood, but that heavy, hangy, "churning" feeling in the uterus, ovary area is definatley there...STILL! I am not more bloated than usual, in fact, my abdomen is relativley flatter than usual, but then again, i have been doing a lot of house cleaning.
But, it still stings under the labia, which is weird. My period was over a few days ago, which is why, when I saw some blood yesterday, i freaked. There was no foul odor. I still feel somewhat nauseas, queasy. The thing is, I thought ovulation was supposed to begin about 2 weeks after the first day of your period. Well, this began about 5 days later! I guess that's what scares me so! I know I've read on these boards that other women also seem to have problems with ovulation, and the fact that it DOESN'T happen when they say it should, it seems to happen any old time during peri. So, I don't know what to think. It almost feels like there's something up there, it's weird, as if you thought that there was something on your cervix, but how could there be? something that I would actually FEEL? see, that's strange. Again, this all happened suddenly, yesterday, to be exact. Before that...for about 2 weeks, i had this lousy backache, which now, is gone. I WAS very bloated, but then, i got my period (I usually get very bloated before and during my period anyway). Naturally, I've been reading on the internet about all the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and I'm petrified! They said that only 10 per cent of women had "spotting" as an early warning sign, which sent me off into a panic,,,bec. I had had some spotting too, but it was only 2 days after my last period, so it could have been left over stuff....but, then again, i know many women have spotting and slight bleeding in between periods during peri too...this is insane, I feel terrified! Does this sound like ovulation symptoms? I know from before, that I'd get "similar" feelings in the ovary, uterus area during ovulation, but this is only 5 days after the first day of my period! Could that still be ovulation? I've never had this feeling of something being up in the vagina, almost like on the cervix, that's strange, but I do suppose hormones can do anything. During ovulation, can you have break through bleeding too? (like i had).

ok, I know, I'm panicky,,,,but, I need to vent i suppose, I feel so crummy and sickly! I"m making an appt. tomorrow wiht my dr. and I'm insisting on every test known to man to find out if this is noraml or what!

ladies, i need any info. i can get right now....and listen, THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO ANSWERED MY POST, thank you so much!!!!

........i should add here, that i do have IBS, and it's been acting up a little latley, not badly, but it's been rearing it's ugly head somewhat. Also, I am now getting these rib pains, not SEVERE, but there, almost feels like gas, but not. The abdominal area itself, feels plain old crummy, sickly, gassy, whatever.....it's NOT just down in the pelvic area, it's also around the abdomen. I also felt this slow cramping feeling by what feels like my right ovary, yet, it then moved to the left one...OH MAN, this is really to much! I've told myself, this will all pass, and in a few weeks, and months, i'll be looking back at this as just another peri moment....but right now, I'm petrified...I'm actually becoming detached, which is panic.

Hi My Darling,

I've been experiencing symptoms very similar to the ones you describe. My period finished over a week ago, and I'm having twinges/mild cramps/heavy sensation/on and off bloating/backache, etc, etc, on a daily basis. This is a relatively new development for me. But whenever I get flare-ups of peri symptoms, I've noticed that I always feel at my worst between the end of my period and around the time I ovulate. I've read other posts on the board from women describing a similar experience, in fact there's a thread lower down this page which is titled something like 'Ovarian and cramping discomfort - after period' which you might find helpful. I'm trying not to freak myself out with cancer-related thoughts, but of course like you and most of us on this board, I can't help worrying. Ovarian cancer, from what little I know, is much much less common than ovarian cysts, which many women get, and cysts can cause a lot of the same symptoms. IBS, which you say you suffer from, can also cause aches and pains in the pelvic area. In fact, I think that's part of my problem, too. Just feels like everything's gone haywire 'down below' at the moment! But I started a progesterone only pill a couple of weeks ago and I want to give this a chance to get into my system before I go back to the doctor. Hope it helps a little to know you're not alone! Jess xx

oh thank you Jessie! you made me feel better! yes, i do deal with IBS, not really badly, but boy, when it kicks in, NO GOOD! NOW, this last period, which ended a few days ago, was normal, came on time, etc...one it ended, I was "normal" for about a day and a half..THEN, i began to get this "pre-period" heaviness down there, and that sort of "churning" feeling as well, aroudn the lower intestine, ovary area. OK, but, again, I'm used to that, BEFORE i get my period, NOT AFTER.!!!
So, ok, I didn't panic right off, i thought it was probably hormonal. UNTIL, I passed a little more blood, then i can remember becoming panicky. Yet, i know my own GYN, has told me over the years, that that's normal, you can still keep bleeding a little up to 5 days after your period. OK, fine. BUT, then, I started with this awful feeling in the intestines. NOW, it's localized itself, to the left of my belly button, about an inch over...and earlier today, there was also this "pain" a little farther down as well, sort of below the belly button, to the left. This "pain" is weird, it's not pain as in being stuck with a needle, it's more like a deep ache/pain....and it makes you feel really lousy, sick and nauseas. Do you ever get this? This "pain" comes and goes...but when it comes, it makes me feel nauseas, and the anxiety shoots up to my face! It makes me feel like screaming (from anxiety within my body) and running! I suppose , to get off the anxiety.....OH GEEZ, this is awful....now, the reason i had flipped out about ovarian cancer, was that my mother died of it, when she was 57, back in 1988. So, obviously, that weighs on my mind. I hope i don't sound to paranoid, but when you know you have cancer in your family, you DO become anxious. So, ovarian cysts can cause the same symptoms, i didnt know that..i will research that. Thank you! The nurse at the dr's office had said to me (bec. i called..lol), that if this were pain from ovarian cancer, it wouldn't come and go, it would be constant. I also have had lack of appetite since yesterday, do you get that too?
I iknow, with IBS, that happens. How about nausea?

ok Jessie, thank you for posting! I really do appreciate it! Sncerely, MyDarling

My Darling:

I am so sorry you are so worried and scared...after reading about your mother, I can't say I blame you at all for the fear. However, chances are it is nothing serious. I used to get ovulation pain that was excrutiating, my entire side would hurt, from my waist right now to lower abdomen. It would be very sharp pain if I moved around. If I laid still it would be bearable. I don't know if this is what you are experiencing or not.

It seems like during peri, anything goes! There are no rules anymore, everything we knew about our bodies changes. I would be more inclined to think peri before cancer. Cysts are a real possibility as well...and are very common. Sadly health anxiety is also a fun peri challenge too!! We worry about every new ache or pain, dizzy spell or heart palp! It is a scary time for us, and we are not prepared for it. Well, I wasn't anyway.

Hang in there, and try not to fret! And let us know what the doctor says it is!
