I have a constant soreness in the left joint in my jaw. I can usually relieve it by applying pressure or stretching the muscles. I know that I grind at night. I wear a night guard and I often wake myself up chewing on it.

I woke up this morning and for the very first time, I can hardly open my mouth.

There is no clicking, but OH, is it painful!!

I dont' want to be dependent on pain meds again.

Does anyone else have this problem??

Thanks,

bev

I've recently been diagnosed with tmj. I've not had difficulty opening my mouth without pain. Some of my symptoms is the dizziness and prickly, tingling sensation in my face. From my research it seems that several things can cause tmj from grinding and clenching your teeth to whiplash. I was measured for a mouth splint and will go for the fitting in a couple of days. I did not realized until several weeks ago that I clench my teeth in my sleep. I also do this during the day when I doing any strenuous task. Currently I'm taking flexeril, applying heat to the areas that ache, and following a soft food diet. It's my prayer that once I begin using the splint these symptoms will subside.

Hope you get relief soon smile.gif.
