So I had a hysterectomy about 3 months ago....got on HRT (6.25) which totally took away the hot flashes, night sweats...low and behold, it does not help th heart palps, nervousness, or anything else for that matter. AFter I thought I got some control, OUT OF NOWHERE I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart beating fast and feeling like something was terribly wrong with me. Mentally and physically. Has anyone ever had this happen before? I twas so scary...but then went away., It's like I wa so SO nervous about something...but yet knew in my mind everything was okay...lots of adrenaline included.

I read that it takes about 2 years or so for your body to get back on track...so if my dr. says that I will only be on HRT for 4-5 years...that means I am going to have to go through all this heart palp stuff for a LONG time. (my mother who also had a hysterectomy for endo was taken off HRT and is starting to get frequent heart palps as her body adjusts.)

So long story short, I have two more years of this mess, get a break for a little bit (and that's even a MAYBE)...then the dr. weans me off HRT and I get to go through this all over again? I know some people say there is a break...but there are women that I've read about that seem to maybe deal with heart palps for the rest of their lives....right? I mean, are there some women that do? ANd if so....after your hormones are completely gone, why would you still have the palps?

Confused...and not looking forward to 35 and beyond. sad.gif

Thanks for your comfort and reassurance.

Have you tried magnesium and added calcium yet? I have been taking both the last week and already feel better, no heart palps this week at all!

If you ever felt my Mothers pulse you wouldn't believe it. She goes days on end when her heart is skipping beats and can't get anymore than 2 or 3 reg. beats at a time, she also gets a choking sensation in her throat that makes her feel like she needs to cough. This happens without a letup. Doctors don't seem to think it's anything to worry about dry.gif . I do get the same on occasion, but nothing compared to Moms. Jill

I take the magenesium....but often it upsets the digestive system (wink wink).....so calicium helps? And how much? I have tums.

I just take a combination of the calcium and magnesium. Don't seem to get the stomach upset. Not sure if one or both are stopping the palps or if it is just a one off for this week and I am just not having them.
