KSM
Hello everyone. I recently had my yearly check up. I am a 46 yr old women, 3 children. Tubal ligation 15 yrs ago. Began meno symptoms about 4 yrs ago and have been been w/o a period for at least 3 years.
At my most recent checkup up, my blood work came back as FSH 69.9, Estradiol 29, Progesterone of 0.5 and Testosterone of 85 ng/dL, which normal levels were indicated as 14-76.
I DO NOT have any masculine features such as facial hair, deep voice, hair loss, etc. I have found much information about low testosterone levels in women, but I have found very, very little about high levels. The only thing I have found is that it could be used as a indicator of Ovarian Cancer. Does anyone have any information about high testosterone levels in postmeno women?
Thanks to all for any information.

My testosterone levels became quite elevated a couple of years ago - it was all a bit worrying at the time but I believe the levels can be raised during peri/menopause - Have you had a transvaginal scan at all? POS can also raise testosterone levels.

I have not had a transvag scan and I actually had 2 ovarian tumors when I was 19. It was benin but I lost one ovary in the process (the tumors weighed a total of 7lbs). My doctor says that I am postmeno because of the lack of periods for 3 years and my recent labs.

My testerone levels also registered above way above normal during perimenopuase. They repeated the assay a second time just to make sure. I wouldn't worry about it too much. That was 10 years ago and I am perfectly fine.

I am 54 and postmenopausal for a few years. I had my T levels measured because of some physical changes. My levels were high, I don't remember, maybe around 100pg/dL. I was tested for polycysitc ovary disease (scan) and also to check for testosterone producing tumors. Everything was fine.

In my family, it is a genetic thing. All the old women look like men. Some more so than their husbands!
