Has anyone else seen this happen?

When I first started using Pro-Gest I had extra breakouts, but no longer.

I just started bioidenticals a few months ago. I took both estradiol and progesterone by drops. I did notice I developed acne when adding the progesterone. At that time, I used progesterone for 21 days and estradiol daily. Besides the acne, I did not feel wonderful when on P (cranky, bloated/swollen all over).

For this last month, however, my doc switched me to sublingual troches (like gummy bears). I now take 100 mg of P on days 13-27 and estradiol .5 mg daily. I noticed I did not have acne like I had in previous months . I'm not sure if it's the different delivery method, being better balanced this month, cycling or just magic. Symptoms wise, this has been my best month yet. smile.gif

Hey, I'm happy for you !! So much can go wrong during peri and during menopause, it's nice to read a success post. :-)

I wonder if you've had improvement because your body has adjusted to the increased progesterone levels.

I'm not sure why this month was better; possibilities are - from P drops to P "gummy bears" or from 21 days to 13-27 days or magic. The one problem I'm concerned about though, which I posted on the bio hormones forum, is that my period which has always been a 28-day cycle, is now late. In previous months, just by a 2-3 days but this month it's still not here which makes it 6 days late! Being that I've always been regular, I'm assuming it's the bio hormones which is puzzling since this seems to be an unusual reaction.

Thank you for responding. smile.gif

blesstd, I wonder if it would help if you started and stopped the P a little earlier. You said you're using it on days 13-27, I wonder if you backed that up, or used it for less than 2 weeks like 12-24, if you wouldn't see your period start a little earlier. 6 days late is not bad, but I too would probably try to get it a little shorter even though I will admit I have no real scientific reason for doing so, I guess it's just because that's the way it used to be. :-)

prometrium gave me skin blemishes and cold sores. switching to a combination patch - cycling every 3 months for 2 weeks along with uterine ultrasounds 2 time per year.
