I would like some feedback from everyone on how long it takes for Tri-est 2.5 to kick in and get rid of these really nasty hot flashes I'm having. I just started the Tri-est and progesterone/testosterone on Monday and so far nothing except a little grogginess in the mornings and a general feeling of sadness. I was of a mind that these bio-identical hormones might do the trick and do it a little safer for me. I guess I was just wondering if anyone might have some input as to how long it takes for these things to kick in and what sort of side affects anyone was having on them.

Hi deew99...  I am taking Biest, not Triest, but thought I would let you know that I have felt nothing but better since I started taking them almost a year ago.  I felt better immediately, and have not had any side effects at all.  :)

It took me 3-4 weeks on Tri-Est 2.5 before I started seeing an improvement in the flashes (day and night). After 5 weeks, I wasn't having daytime flashes, but still having some weaker ones at night. Last week I had my prescription changed to 3.75 (my practitioner's choice) and the nighttime flashes have just about disappeared. I have even started sleeping through the night, which hasn't happened in many months.

My prescription also includes progesterone and testosterone (that just added last week). As far as the Tri-Est, apparently you need to give it a good month before you decide if the dosage is working for you. Hang in there and see what the next couple of weeks brings in terms of results.

I've learned so much from these boards!  I have been on Tri-est for a couple of years.  I still have night-heat!  Just curious, what is the amount of progesterone and testosterone that is being prescribed with 2.5 estrogen?

Joy, I am taking 2.5 mg biest every other day and 5 mg biest every other day, with 100 mg 2 X day, cycled, days 13-27.  Testosterone, 1.25 mg a day.
