Hello Ladies

To all of you who live in the hotter climates, im just curious to know how you deal with fasionable clothing in the summer months (which for Australians is NOW). Very interested to know what sort of clothing you wear under the extreme conditions at this time of year to keep cool and comfortable while still trying to look and feel the best you can.

I would also be interested in any makeup tips to prevent it slipping/sweating off your face on a 48 degree day - any good make up brands??

Best wishes for the silly season to all.

Love Freuda

I work for a museum with a very traditional dress code. Our summer casual for nastily hot weather is tailored dresses with open toed shoes allowed. I wear closed toes and put on sheer stockings once I'm in the air conditioning. Young women go bare. Try cotton with a sober print in a clean-cut but not tight shift or a slight A-line. The straight cut eliminates the hot waistband, but you still look sharp. If you use a Liberty print in a straight style it goes against the Victorian frou-frou problem of those prints in an exciting way. I use the more colorful men's shirting stripes as well. That cotton is beautifully smooth and light, and you can work with the stripes for 1940s and '50s directional contrasts. The colorful stripes mean there's no slip required, since they eliminate see-through. Here I'm trying to talk myself into sewing again. Please wish me luck. Anyway, try the modernistic dress.
