Hi, all,

Went to two gynos for vaginal itching and burning. Have been on Vivelle patch and using 1 gm. of estrace cream 3x weekly. Both did tests--both said everything is fine, but it isnt! .

I read the patient insert today and saw that one of the common side effects of the estrace cream is burning, itching, irrittation.

Anyone have trouble with this? If so, did you switch to something else like estring or vagifem?

Hi Colleen

I have recently started using estriol cream for soreness. It is the first hormone preparation I have been allowed to use since I had endo cancer. It is the gentlest and weakest of all the estrogen creams. I only use it on the outside and I also use Replens internally which is less risky for me.
I would recommend estriol as it does not cause any irritation. It can also be inserted with an applicator if need be.
I have found actually that it has helped tremendously with libido in my case. I always find that a little while after applying it I feel "zingy" and it has brought back my feminine feelings which I love!
I only use it a couple of times a week which is enough to stop my soreness.
I would really recommend trying it smile.gif

Hi, Janet,

Thanks for your response. I tried estriol, but unfortunately, it was too weak for me.

Sorry to hear about your endo cancer. I'm glad that you are doing well and that your feminine feelings have returned!

I use estrace, It did not cause me any itching, burning, or pain, or any of the other side effects on the list.
It did give me several breast cysts though.
