I was put on Seasonique in July to hlep with all the peri symptoms. The anxiety is better, the night sweats are much better, I am sleeping better too. However, the last two weeks I have been getting rolling flashes again. Today, for about an hour they came and went every fifteen minutes. I even took my temp at one point and it ws 99.7! Took a tylenol and in 15 minutes it went down to 99>2. I guessI ws starting to cool down. I doubt the tylenol kicked that quick, esp. since I started flahsing again soon after. I decided not to obsess over my temp ( whiich I tend to do) and didnt' take it again. I also get the dizzies before the flash.

I woke up this morning and felt really hot again. My temp. (which I gave into and took) was 98.8. I feel shaky again today. I am so nervous I feel I am falling apart. I really thought the bcp's would do the job. I called my gyn and hopefully they will get back to me today and I am going to see my pcp in the meantime. I keep thinking there is something really wrong with me. None of my friends are going through this, so I have noone to talk to in person. You guys are the best and have helped me so much lately.

I feel I am repeating myself over and over, but when you feel this way you can't help it.

Thanks so much for listenting.

So sorry to hear you are having these hot flashes. It may be that your BCP is not strong enough, or it's in a part of the cycle when your estrogen is dipping and that's why the hot flashes. Never having taken the Seasonique type BCPs before, I wouldn't know how they affect your hormones except that you only have periods every 3 months! How lovely!

Hi,
I had started getting nighttime hot flashes and anxiety on my bcp (Ortho Novum 1/35). I switched to bioidenticals--Climara patch and Prometrium--and my symptoms disappeared. I wonder if the strong progestin in the oral contraceptives blocks the estrogen?

Thanks for your input. I will ask my gyno when they call. I just got in from my gp and I have a major sinus infection, which is why I have been so dizzy. That made me relax alot. I hope you are both well.

Enough, in my earlier years of this peri ride dry.gif I took Loestrin, Mircette, and some other bcp. The dosage and brand had to be changed numerous times because I just was not getting full relief from many of my symptoms. I would say that the bcp made many of my peri symptoms somewhat tolerable, but they did not get rid of them. Matter of fact the entire time I was on bcp I felt spacey with the intensity varying from day to day.

The progestin in bcp can affect us all differently. Utilizing bcp for peri didn't work well for me, but we are all so different since they seem to work wonders for many women. I have a friend who took low dose bcp into her 50's and she was quite pleased with it's effect.

BTW keep repeating yourself, keep posting, keep seeking help and confort smile.gif...we are here for each other {{{{HUGS}}}}.

That was just the nicest reply and very hopeful and helpful. I knew I couldn't be the only one with the ups and downs even while on these. Thanks so much.
