Oh Ladies, if you could only see how I have to sleep!! Picture this....The temps outside are in the teens but I have an ice bag filled with ice between my head and the headboard ready to apply to my neck when the sweats begin, ice water on the nightstand to sip for relief, remote to the tower fan gripped tightly in my hand for when I need a cool blast of air, and heating pad and quilt ready to throw on my tummy when the chills hit! Oh these night sweats are horrible.!!! My hubby tells me I have my own environment chamber going on here! Oh my...I guess we just have to laugh at ourselves sometimes, otherwise we'd go nuts! Just had to share. I hope you're all doing well....Ajay

Hi Ajay,

I am continually talking to my shrink about finding strategies to overcome obstacles, so I especially appreciate your post!

What a great idea! I think I am going to try the ice bag strategy, because no matter how cold it is outside (and I sleep with the window open), I awaken in mid-night so hot that I strip down to nothing. Interestingly, I do not sweat; I just get so hot that I want to stick my head in the freezer, which I have done a couple of times.

Great idea. And you keep your sense of humor. Boy, when I can laugh at and with myself, I know I am making progress.

Thanks for a delightful post.

Hi
I am new to this site wow.I thought I ws dying and didn't talk to anyone about day and night sweats. I am so happy I am not alone. What I was doing when I got really hot I would run cold water on my wrists or if it was really bad I would take a shower than stand in front of the fan and cool off , my daughter was worried I would be cold this winter, I said no I have my own heating system which will keep me warm.(hot flashes) rolleyes.gif I hope this helps someone. I also keep a fan blowing all night in the room keep me cool all night.

Hi Everyone,

I am still kinda new to the website but boy can I relate.

I have gone from begging my husband to get me an extra blankie because I was always normally cold all the time to having to actually have a second set of pj's handy because of these night sweats.

Last night when I woke up (as I normally do), I woke my husband up to show him what I was going thru.

My night sweats started with just a little sweat on the back of my neck and have progressed to where I am now - I am actually soaked. It certainly is a lot of fun this peri stuff.

Can't wait to see what's next!

Too funny! The only thing good about my recent unrelenting night sweats is that it is keeping one of my 10 year old daughters out of my bed at night...I have the heat off in my room and open the windows from 8pm till 11. Still sweat through....go figure!!!

I can so relate...at night when we go to bed and turn the furnace down...my hubby complains that it is cold and I am thankful for that, because when I wake up wtih a night sweat and throw the blankets off...it is so wonderful to feel the cool air on my skin...

Also, he told me the other night...that he can feel the heat off of my skin and it wakes him up sometimes! You'd think with all this heat coming off my body..it would help me lose weight...but alas, no such luck...

I workout first thing in the morning (5 a.m.) and usually wake up with a hotflash....there have been a few times that another one hits while I am on the treadmill and I feel like I cannot breathe I am so hot!

Great idea, a bag of ice! I use a Jade Pillow Cover. The pillow cover has made a huge difference in my sleeping through the night. So nice to have a soothing coolness under my head-- keeps me from getting hot flashes. Highly recommend it.

What is a Jade Pillow Cover? LOL! As I am reading and writing on here, my husband said "find out what it is! I'll go out and get one RIGHT NOW!" laugh.gif

Thanks for starting this Ajay. I have so enjoyed to laughs cuz you are right, we have to or this would just about do us in. My husband is having a ball (cuz he finally gets to see me laughing again I think wink.gif ). He said I needed to tell you about the other night when FOR ONCE I had fallen asleep PEACEFULLY and in less than an hour he said he had to get up and go to the bathroom. IMAGINE wink.gif How could he DO THAT TO ME? blink.gif Suddenly as his backside disappeared out the bedroom door, his pillows followed him as I told him to go sleep in the other room hehe! Of course I was sooo sorry the next morning laugh.gif (He has sleep apnea and it is not unusual for me to go in the other to sleep because of the noise and wondering if he will breath again every 5 minutes. This was like the first night in 4 EVER that I had fallen asleep in his arm ~ and without catching on fire as soon as our skin touched).

I appreciate everyone for helping US thru this time

OH! I forgot to mention about MY remote control ceiling fans.. My dear dear sweetheart of a husband, when told that my sisters husband went out bought her two remote control fans, went into our bedroom and attached duck tape from the fan to my headboard and in the living room, 2 shoe strings and a tie combine to reach from the fan down to my desk and I can actually move it across the room to the couch if I choose wub.gif biggrin.gif He loves me sooo much. Ohhh! If only I could put a picture on here of what they look like but they work!
