How do you make it stop? ASM

If you mean how do you stop them from coming....although there are lots of herbal things you can try...black colash, Evening Primrose Oil, soy, estroven, etc....the only way to stop them for sure is to use hormone replacement therapy.

If you mean how do you stop one when it is upon you....nothing really works....although I found that cooling my legs off with our air conditioner this summer worked great. It was an accidental finding, and I read a post that another lady found the same thing with a fan. I tried all the upper body things, cold cloth on face, neck, chest, or putting wrists under cold water, etc...but they didn't work very well....the legs worked the best. And that seems odd, as usually hot flashes affect the upper body more than the lower....go figure?

Good Luck!

Hello asm.

I can really sympathise with you re hot flashes. I am plagued with anxiety that goes along with my hot flashes and as I can't take HRT I have tried a few things but to no avail until I went to see a complimentary therapist. I am on Omega oils, Bio minerals, Super Vit B complex and Vit E tablets. I have been on this combination for some time now and have been told that the Vitamin E helps take the heat out of the flash. I still get very fiery flashes although they don't seem to be as frequent.

I think the most important thing you can do for you is to try and ride with them or breathe in to them as they pass over you. I know this is hard to do when in the midst of it all but it does work. It takes a lot of practise and its taken me long enough. I decided enough was enough when I stopped going out as much because of the flashes and anxiety because if I was out and a place was hot it would trigger a flash of or the anxiety about a place being to hot would be enough to start the ball rolling. Since my period stopped a year ago the flashes have become more and more. Like I said I've had it with them so I have started going places again for short periods of time, if I feel a flash coming on I try and relax as much as I can and just go with it. When I do this it doesn't last as long.

I truly hope you find something that works for you. I think out of the menopause symptoms the hot flashes and anxiety are the worst.
