Ok, my husband and I and three of my little ones took a road trip to NY from KY and just got back. I can't travel by car anymore!!!!! When I was in my thirties my husband and I were able to drive straight through to FL from NY, now after 8 hours in a car I am shot. If we don't stop every 2 hours my body is crazy. This is what happens. Aching legs, back, neck. Motion bothers my stomach and my head. After we stop to rest I feel like I am drunk, my equilibrium is off. I have to walk it off, it subsides, get back in the car only to start all over when we stopped. I never use to be like this. And the fatigue was crazy. Anyone with same experience????? It seems it is harder to bounce back than when we were younger. Gee I'm only 42 and feel a heck of alot older....lol

My husband is retired military, we did lots of traveling even over seas!
But now after having so many horrible symptoms doing trips I don't want to leave my comfort zone.
Plus I find it hard to drive, I get more dizzy driving then sitting in the car.
Hope someday it passes!

Anytime I do anything physical now, it takes a good few days to recover! Gone are those nimble days. sad.gif

I have been suffering menopause symptoms since about 38 yrs old. In my early to mid forties my daughter was a figure skater which involved a lot of travelling for training and competition. After a while I began to dread spending long periods in the car. I just seized up like a rusty old tractor. Back and knee pain became a real problem, so much so that I had to stop going to her competitions when she really needed my support. It was awful because I couldn't put my finger on what was causing all the problems. All the problems seemed to eminate from my neck on the left side.
The good news is that at 51, I am now much better and can tolerate travelling again. My husband bought a car with special comfort seats which are heated. MMmmmmm lovely!
Occasionally my right knee grinds a bit but my spinal health is much better. My God, those hormones have a lot to answer for!

Yes, yes, yes! I have been figuring out for soo long long time, what was causing me all these symtoms whyle traveling. I came to the point, to bring with me a rechagable massage device with me if in case i have to use it. I remember at first, my toes started to feel numb, my arm started to feel soo funny ( the feeling was like heaviness and if i tried to hit my arm against something, it will feel like electricity current trough inside my muscles ) Hope you understant. But then all that when away but another things start to show, like while traveling feeling funny of my head, feeling like i was getting too anxious and achy. To the point that i have to tell my husband to stop on trips and be around my town. sad.gif Last time i travel with my husband my prolapse became too buthersome, i didn't what cheeck to sit on. But probably all these time was my prolapse producing all these symtoms huh.gif

Hi there,

I have turned into a cranky, whiney old curmudgeon in the car. On Thanksgiving my husband and 2 of my 3 sons (21 and 24) and I drove from DC to Richmond VA--a mere 2 1/2 hours, even with traffic. Within half an hour I was worse than a 2 year old. My kids asked my husband to drop me off on the highway if I didn't stop!

I find that in geneal I have less patience. I find that my body does not do what I want it to do. My knees get stiff, my neck gets a crick, my shoulders tingle... I am 55 but in the car I may as well be 100. When I get out of the car for a stop, I also feel dizzy and spacey.

Sorry to report the same symptoms. But at least you're not alone. smile.gif

I am unable to get onto a plane without being sedated, due to my mental illness.
But I have only flown 2 times in my life. Both under 2 hours.
Needless to say, I have not seen much of the USA in my 54 years due to this.
If I am a passenger in a car, I am good for about 3 hours, max. before I start to freak out, with the twitches and itchies.
I can only drive straight for only 2 hours, before I get crazy.

I don't mind.
I can see the world on TV.
In the comfort of my home.

Me too! My poor husband! My family and his live 9 hours apart. We travel a few times a year. I make it so miserable for him. He loves to drive, but I hate being in the car so long! He'd drive straight through, but I tell him if I'm spending 8 hours in the car, I need an hour dinner break, like at work! wink.gif

Flying is much, much worse though. It never used to be this bad, but my head feels like it's going to explode in an airplane ... especially taking off and landing! The wrist bands you can wear for motion sickness used to help, but not any more. I just put my head down, shut my eyes, and pray for it to be over soon.
