Full Version: What happened to my breasts?!?!

Has this happened to anyone? I've been pretty lucky over the years in that my breasts were rather fibrous (according to an ultrasound technician) so they stayed high and firm for a long time. Even at a 42C I could go without a bra without a lot of flopping around (not that I did at my age!). Then just recently -- it seemed like overnight -- they've just collapsed. I still wear the same size bra somehow, but my breasts just feel like bread dough now. And they've sagged obviously. I know that eventually the mammary tissue goes away as you get closer to menopause, but it seemed to happen so quickly! Is this normal? I'm 47.

Ha ha! Too funny--I am noticing the same thing. I'm large breasted but always have had very dense breasts, hence they were rather perky for D cups. Now they look like sacs of deflated bread dough.

You could always have a lift...

yes it's normal, and it's why they don't do mammograms on young women, because their breasts are too dense to get a good picture of, they wait till your at least 40 when the breast tissue starts to shrivel up and all you have left is the fat tissue. that's why they get deflated and saggy.

Yep, it happened to me too. Even at 48 my mammos were still read as "dense" but I have a feeling that will no longer be the case! But guess what, men still love them ... a breast is a breast as far they're concerned :-))

Mine have definately gone south. They still look pretty good, just very low! I'm thinking they are trying to help me cover up my meno-belly. tongue.gif blink.gif ohmy.gif

Yes, me too. My once full boobs, 36D's have turned into flat wallets. I am now a 34C. I have notice more tenderness and at time soreness around the nipples. The breasts dry out easier if I swim in chlorinated pools too much. The nipples have shrunk in size.

Yes, Webalina, I noticed this. They became very flat and like you said sort of feel like dough - very soft. I still wear the same size bra too but I find I have to kind of hike them up with tighter straps now even in a well fitting bra. I hate it and it did seem to happen overnight along with the belly and the chin hairs.

oh yes .... me, too - just like Arla said ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Hmmmmmm me too sadly. As soon as my periods stopped coming regularly I noticed breast and vaginal/clitoral/vulval/perineum changes. When I stopped HRT it got even worse. I always assumed it was the reduced estrogen levels. For me it didn't start until shortly before my 50th birthday.

To Jasminetea who says that men still love them, a breast is a breast as far as they're concerned, thanks for the encouraging words! smile.gif
