I'm feeling so irritated right now.

This morning, I keep getting a cold feeling. Then BAM my face feels feels warm. And it goes from feeling warm, warmer, then hot, and it just goes away.
Then, here comes the cool feeling again.

Just as I type this, my face feels hot, yet on the sides of my face feel a cool sensation. I'm going to lose my mind sad.gif

Someone please tell me I'm not alone.

It feels like I'm running a little fever, but I'm not! I'm normal temp. When I look in the mirror, my cheeks are flushed a little. blah!

Oh and I forgot to add, I'm not even sweating with this, at all!

Hi Montana,

I haven't personally experienced flashes of this type. My flashes were intensely hot and I sweated so bad that I was just miserable. Afterwards, I would get cold, but it would take at least 5 minutes to go thru the cycle of hot to cold. I hope someone on PS can answer this for you. I don't want your post to go unanswered so I am bumping it back up to the top.

Girls, can anyone relate to what Montana is experiencing??

you're not alone, mm. i've had the same thing happen to me, on & off now for awhile. just happened yesterday actually. my ears get into the act as well. i also get more typical hot flashes, sometimes preceded by nausea. but the strange thing with all them for me is that i don't sweat either. yet.

advice? wish i had some. i wear layers & put them on & off. sometimes i stick something cooler on the cheeks or the ears to help calm them down without totally tossing it into the freezing department. i'm assuming it's all peri, my baseline thyroid reading is normal (though i am hoping to get that a little more thoroughly checked). my temp is always normal as well.

hope you get some more responses. good luck & let us know how you are doing.

Hi MM,

I am one who gets the flashes like you. I can be hot, hot, hot, and the freezing cold. It's truly horrid, but it is purely your hormones. You aren't going to lose it, I promise wink.gif For us, sadly at this time of our lives, this is our 'normal', and that means learning by coming here that much of what you are experiencing is all too well known by so many women who are so willing to help you.

You have come to the right place, so pull up a chair and tuck yourself in for the Peri ride with the rest of us.

Hugs,
Viktoria

MontanaMom: I have absolutely no temperature regulation....I'm either too hot, or too cold, and it can happen within minutes of each other. This is a relatively new symptom. I used to have just the hot flashes. Now I get the flashes/shivers together. My husband jokes that our bedroom is like a back-stage dressing room in the wee hours of the night. I'm always taking off layers of clothing, opening the window, turning on the fan....then two minutes later my teeth are chattering and I'm rummaging around looking for a pair of socks. It's gotten so bad that he sometimes just gives up and sleeps in the guest room. Same thing happens during the day. Last Tuesday I had an appointment at a school (I'm a health insurance broker and I had to sign up some new employees.) It was about 30 degrees that morning so I put on a sweater. When I got to the school, they made me sit in one of those tiny little chairs (it was an elementary school). I was shivering, so the teacher volunteered to turn up the heat a bit. Withing 20 minutes I was sweating...it was literally pouring down my face. I got up and turned the thermostat off. What do you think happened? Yup, I started shivering again!

I'm having thyroid problems--undiagnosed as of yet---and I think this flashing/shivering may be related, but it could just be peri. You're not crazy--or at least if you are, you have company!! tongue.gif
