Hey all.I have had a problem for the past few days and want a bit of reassurance and feedback.I believe we have talked about this before, but here I am.I have had a lot of tension and tightness in my left shoulder and neck.I feel myself getting tense there, then it makes my shoulder blade ache.I try to relax, but sometimes, when I am busy,I don't notice till it gets very tense-sometimes,when it gets bad the left side of my face gets that novaciane wearing off feeling.I believe it is caused by the tenseness and pressure on the nerves, what do you guys think? It really bothers me when my face feels like this,I am healthy and don't really thinkit is anything bad,but still, you know how quickly anxiety builds.Any response welcome-GODbless. unsure.gif

Hi There, I experience the same thing. My doctor seems to think it's simply caused by stress; when I get anxious or over tired, I notice it allot more. And I too, get that feeling in the face. Almost like a numbness/tingling sensation. I have TMJ, so I have always wondered if there was any correlation there. I also mentioned this to my dentist and she said that if the bite is off that can also cause stress in the neck/shoulder/face muscles. I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it gets worse. Somehow I'm SURE this too, is menopause related. Bummer.
Hugs, Kleeo

Kleeo, thanks so much for your fast reply--it helps to hear I am not alone. The face thing always freaks me out,no matter how much I know deep inside it is ok.I have been under a lot of stress the past week, and think this is the cause. Thanks again.GODbless

Hi there,
I have the exact symptoms you describe. The pain seems deep set in my shoulder blade and in the "corner" of my neck as well as up my neck into the left side of my face. Analgesia helps with the pain and a heat pack helps also. My saving grace has been treatment by an osteopath. Increased aches and pains are very much part of peri so try to go easy on yourself. I was terrified when it first started and I found the fear made it worse so I understand. It's not uncommon. It's taken me about 2 months of treatment to feel significant relief but I'm grateful it's now started to subside. Post back if you're worried but be encouraged that it is treatable. Take care and try to tackle the pain as soon as it happens so that the pain doesn't cause you additional stress which makes it worse. Lots of hugs, Gabby

I felt I should respond to your reply even though I don't have the same problem myself.....however my mother did in menopause.

The reason I felt I should share her story is, when I asked her what she first noticed when she started on her HRT....she said she noticed the pain, tension and stiffness in her shoulders and neck disappeared!! She was very concerned that the pain she was suffering was literally going to leave her crippled!! It was that bad. She told me after she had been on HRT for 3 weeks the tension loosened up, the pain went away....and she has been fine ever since.

She takes Prometrium and estogen called c.e.s. which is plant based estrogen, not horse based. I share her story as her biggest concern prior to the HRT was in fact becoming crippled with shoulder and neck pain. It is another lovely symptom of menopause. I hope you find relief.

Floater, that is so strange that you said this, and a huge relief. You see I just came off my lovely sugar pill week on my bcp,I have asked my dr if I can take them continously beacause my symptoms come back that week. When my pills are in my system I too feel the relief in my shoulders, its as if a weight is being lifted.I plan on only having sugar pill week every three months. Thanks again,GODbless
