Just wondering in the cycle what hormone is to blame for the sore, swollen breasts, estrogen or progesterone?

Slowbear, it's the estrogen, and too much [dominance] sure makes them sore. Mine can even go up a size or two.

I've heard that its oestrogen - My breasts have been so sore this month so I think oestrogen levels were high ... now I'm on my 5th day of a cycle and I feel so horrible. It must be the oestrogen crash - who knows... I know one thing, I cant keep going through this .. I've had enough.

The down side, the get very sore.
Thanks for the input....

Wow that is surprising to me because it happens about two weeks or so before my period so actually I was thinking it was the progesterone...now on top of that tend to feel better at this time (because of this extra estrogen) so does this mean that "when it is all over" and I have NO ESTROGEN to speak of, I will feel horrible all the time.? Now I am worried....

I think it's the progesterone in me. I upped my progesterone intake a few months ago and my breasts are very sore sometimes and feel huge!

For me, it is the progesterone that caused breast tenderness. When I was having cycles the last week before my period started I would get tenderness to the point I could barely stand to wear a bra. I had to brace myself for the pain before I removed it each night. When I was using Prometrium vaginally (at much too high a dose for vaginal use..but I couldn't stand the side effects of taking it orally) my main side effect was breast tenderness, if I switched back to taking the progesterone orally the tenderness completely disappeared.

Well, I like the idea of possibly having "perky" breasts, but all they seem to be doing is heading south!
All I know right now is that perhaps by coincidence, I have been feeling better for the first time in about 5 YEARS for several day...maybe a week and the other thing that is going on besides feeling better is I have tender breasts!
I am just trying to relax and enjoy feeling better but I am afraid that it will all come crashing down soon! If I kew it was because of one hormone or the other I may try a bit on the off times...but when I did try progesterone (though I was probably taking WAY too much) all my symptomsdoubled...can't figure it all out!Joan

If using progesterone increased your symptoms, you probably need estrogen. I have found the more estradiol I use and the less progesterone I use, the better I feel!

All the info I've read and gathered has pointed to progesterone as the culprit for sore breasts. I also get very sore and swollen breasts the wek before my period when progesterone is highest. Not fun!!
