I have odd flashes...I have never perspired much...mostly get HOT HOT HOT like an oven and my hot flashes are like that and I get a panicky feeling when I am flashing and can't get relieve. No sweat. I get these all during the day and often at night...feel HOT and miserable.

Is this a Hot Flash...if I don't sweat?

Since the cooler weather hit, I am having few to NO HOT FLASHES !!!!! OMG, I'm so happy but then I think...maybe the others were not flashes, I was just hot?

I'm 48 and my period has been over a year and a month or two.

Was I flashing and is it usual to have less flashing in the cool months ( I keep the house at 68 in winter now and was severely flashing with the house at 74 in the summer).

Any help appreciated!

Hi Oldstressed,

Oh, I am shocked. Someone like ME! laugh.gif

Yes, you were flashing, and like you I do NOT sweat, I internally combust. Only now at almost 50 do I get massive night combustion but very little sweating between my breasts. No big sweats that I wish would happen.

And guess what? At 74F .........that is MY flashing band temp. 74+ and I am one ball of combustable constant heat. If I keep the house below that temp, at around 64-68F I do NOT flash anywhere near as much. My flashes are like yours, I get hot, and I stay HOT, sometimes for hours, and I loathe summer.

Like you, I also have never been a perspirer, not in all my life.

You are not alone, and yes, you were flashing. Enjoy the winter. wink.gif

Many Hugs,
Viktoria

when I first started having the hot flashes, they were dry flashes...now they aren't so much! During the summer months when it was seriously HOT I couldn't tell the difference between the heat and a flash, it was terrible...I was hot and sweaty all the time!! Even in an air conditioned room...still was HOT. The weather is down right cold now and I don't flash nearly as much...some days I even go without any flashes!!

I never have had night sweats, thank goodness....but have been awakened from being too HOT! Throw off the covers, shove hubby away if he is cuddling me....he used to wake me up all the time that way!! He is learning to leave me alone at night after being told maybe 1000 times! Men are a little slow sometimes!

For me there is a definite corelation between heat and hot flashes! If I am relatively cool I am ok most of the time!

How interesting!!! Now that you mention it.... I have been more comfortable now the season has changed. Just one thing... I still can't wear layered clothes. No woolies this year!! I get hot sooo easy. Our workplace is pretty cool (thank goodness); but if I wear the wrong clothes, I get real warm real fast and the flash comes. I don't perspire either. I get really anxious and sometimes dizzy. At least in the day. The middle of the night can be one way (hot) or the other (hot and sweaty). Poor hubbies everywhere. Wish they could flash just once... laugh.gif

My stepmother buys me a Lantz flannel nightgown every year for Christmas - I love them, but I think this year I will ask for a cotton one. tongue.gif

I don't sweat during my flashes either. At night sometimes I will wake up with a soaking wet back of my neck but that's about it.

I also thought I was odd because I do not sweat when I get hot. I just feel like it is summer all the time. Last winter one of my best friends thought I was having some kind of financial troubles because I never wore a coat. She took me aside and discretely offered to buy me one!

I keep my house at 60 degrees F. even though it is now cold here in Metro DC. My son tells me it is like a refirgerator in here. To me it feels just right. smile.gif

Smiles to all,

Oh THANK YOU ladies!!!! I'm thrilled that it' not just me~...I was starting to worry it was a dreaded disease of some sort...I even started taking my temperature ...certain I had a fever.

My family is about to rebel... a mutiny of sorts ( turning up the heat when I'm not looking!)Today, I bought them each a blanket type thing that zips up and covers them head to toe...their arms stick out. They walk around here in shorts and t shirts! It's LATE FALL...put some clothes on!!! There is a limit to how much I can take off!

Now I can relax. I guess I should consider myself lucky not to have the drenching flash, but now that I've said that...just my luck.

I am 53 and still having my period although it is getting insane at this point with irrigularity. But I have been getting hot flashes on and off for about 2 years mostly at night. I do not sweat either just feel real hot and have to toss the covers (which my husband loves because I toss them on him and he stays nice and warm) I also will get "hot" working around the house and doesn't matter what temp it is outside, I run outside to "cool off" in 30 degree weather. Boy does it feel good.....my husband and I can no longer agree on the temp when riding in the car either. He will have a sweatshirt on with the heat going and I am in a light shirt and sweating. So if you ever see a woman in Montana with her head out the window in the middle of winter just wave cause it is me........
