Hi there Belle and welcome to the site. smile.gif
If you are really interested in getting as much info as possible about your hysterectomy and what it will mean for you in the future then I would recommend that you look in on the Hystersisters website.
I had a hysterectomy 18 months ago for different reasons than yourself- I had endometrial cancer.
I have found Power Surge really friendly and helpful, but it covers all aspects of Menopause whereas Hystersisters is more specific and will give you really detailed information on hysterectomies. So you could do with both at present.
What's in store for you? Well who knows. Everyone is different. As you are already on HRT you will be on a different journey to myself. I was not allowed HRT so I suffered dreadfully from hot flushes and anxiety.
I recovered quite quickly from the operation itself and physically got back to normal quite soon.
Emotionally it can be a shock, losing all your female parts even if you dont need them any more and I think most ladies go through a grieving process for that loss. 18 months on I myself am absolutely fine.
The best way is to post on problems if and when they occur. You may not have too many so let things unfold. There are lots of ladies on this site who have had a hysterectomy and there will always be someone who can help.
It is very early days for you yet and I would say at present to have lots of rest and pampering while you can.
Take care and please feel free to PM me at any time

Dear Bonny, be good to yourself and get lots of rest post surgery. I had a total hysterectomy in my forties. and my dr. said I didn't need estrogen. I healed so well that I went to a wedding and danced two weeks later, but after that I hit a brick wall. I ran out of estrogen. I felt like I was in a vacuum and everything in my body was going afoul. Keep taking the estrace, or whatever estrogen you are taking. It takes years for your body to adjust to the lack of estrogen. Surgical menopause is a bitch. I wish you well. love, lilyfields
