Ok,Hot flashes, anxiety,I get that all of these are hormone related, but now I have an almost constant post nasal drip.It started about a month ago, maybe earlier.I can feel it going down the back of my throat,it makes my throat itch and makes me want to cough, this past week It has been worse,I believe due to the changing weather here.Has anyone else had an increase in sinus problems? This is crazy.also what shoud I take to get rid of this?I have tried mucinex,it helps but I want to dry this up!!Turn off my nasal faucet so to speak.Any help appreciated.

One day metro DC residents are going to open the Washington Post and in huge letters above the fold will read the following headline: "Area Woman Drowns in Post Nasal Drip."

This has been a problem for me since I started peri. The fact that I have a deviated septum does not help.

I use Mucinex and Sudafed and do pretty well. I also rinse out my nose dozens of times a day (no details; you're welcome..).

I wish I could do more than tell you I feel your pain. But I do. It is like having a constant flow of sludge in the back of the throat.

Hang in there. Once the hormones get stabilized these problems are supposed to fade somewhat. I am certainly counting on it.

Add me onto the list of annoying post nasal drip. It has been HORRIBLE for me for approximately a year now, the past few months being the worst. I'm blaming it on being inside more now that it's getting cold in Maine and we are using the heat more. I know that is hard on the sinus's. I have to remember to start using my humidifier. I use Sudafed PE and a pure saline nasal spray. It does help, but I have to remember it EVERY day. Right now while I'm sitting here at the computer, I can feel it in the back of my throat. I am constantly clearing my throat and it always feels like I am getting an upper respiratory infection from it. TERRIBLY annoying. Happy Joy the woes of meno.

Oh the joys of seasonal allergies that start when we begin to 'change' and our immune system becomes somewhat compromized. I say this because it does sound like allergies that happen in the fall and then again in the spring. ALL this started when I started menopause and the itching from the drip entered my ears too. It was so bad that I even wanted to reach down my throat to scratch and I couldn't go anywhere.

Try an antihistamine like Benadryl (don't take anything that has extra ingredients though since that can cause other side effects) just stick with ONLY an antihistamine and see if this helps a little anyway! If it does, then you might even be a candidate for yearly or bi-yearly allergy shots. Your doctor will know.

Thanks all.Today I actually feel a bit less drippy-thank GOD!!!I t can really drive you nuts.I see thanksgiving coming, and Christmas-I hope it goes away before then!!I take benedryl at night, and it helps the itching in my throat, but since I have had some vaginal dryness,I have to be careful with antihistamines. Its so hard when you have hormone problems!!!GODbless all.

Same with the constant post nasal "drip" and of course the itchy ears. And yes...Kleeo - it does feel as if a cold is coming on. I spray hydrogen peroxide twice a day. In the morning and before going to bed. Tilt head back and just let it stay in each nostril for a few minutes and then blow. If one cannot take it "straight" than dilute it with water. Just watching it bubble lends an "infection" of some sort. Though I don't sound as if I have a cold.

It is foggy in the state of Oregon and all the pollutants and allergies are close to ground's surface. No wonder we are aggravated by all of these symptoms. sad.gif

Netti pots, nettis pots, nettis pots! I can't say it enough. I started using one this summer and I use it every single morning when I get up. It washes out your nose and boy does it make a big difference. It's the one good habit that I have been able to start and really want to stick with, it makes such a difference.

The first few times you use it you will be shocked at how much comes out of your nose. Have a big box of kleenex ready!
