Full Version: What is REALLY happening - knowledge required.

Hi Ladies,

I'm interested to know what is REALLY happening on the inside of our bodies during the menopause process. The books and information I have read all suggest shedding of the lining of the womb in preparation for Old Age, describing symptoms and so called remedies.

What I would like to know is what actually happens to the womb, to the overies and to the cervix during peri and menopause. Does it eventially shrink away? What is really happening does it shrivel up. Apart from hormones what causes the pain and discomfort - is it the shriveling and shinking. I really find that there is a lack of real knowledge to date. I think all women are entitled to know the real truth - you hear about bone shrinkage, heart problems developing, hair loss, just general deterioration.

So does anyone know truthfully what is happening deep within our bodies? Just curious.

Freuda.

Freuda: Interesting question. I think our ovaries do shrink a bit...at least that's what I've read. They stop producing estrogen and progesteron, so it follows that they woudn't retain the same characteristics. And our bones become less dense. But I don't know what happens to our uterus, or if any other body organs are affected by menopause in a special way. I mean, everyone changes as they get older. Blood vessels lose elasticity and plaque builds up on the walls of arteries. But these things happen to men too. I'm interested to hear what kind of responses you get to this query...
