welcome to a great forum. you'll find plenty of information, suggestions, & support.

re: oprah - what was on her show that made you unsure about the book you were going to buy?

you will probably have noticed on this discussion thread some recommended books. i read susan love's book 1st & am now reading elizabeth vliet's books. for my circumstances, which includes problems my whole life with pms, etc & severe symptoms all over the place this last year, but accumulating gradually since my mid 30s, i have found vliet's books a godsend.

on another thread (recent - i think something about being 38, new, etc), a few other authors were mentioned. i'm sure people will give you their favorites as well.

best of luck to you,
ellen

Dr. Northup was on Oprah and she kinda sugar-coated menopause. I didn't know if her book was like that. I just need some guidance and reasurance at this time. Thanks for the recommendations.

i don't know anything about northrup, but i can tell you that there's plenty of us who are having a hell of a time with our hormones. & we sure won't sugar-coat anything. sure, some women have relatively easy transitions. but if ever there was truth in 'one size does not fit all,' this is it. i hope you find some good guidance & support here.

Dearest, our hostess and webmaster for this wonderful site, has provided a very comprehensive book list. Find it on the "Power Surge Quick Links" near the top center of the boards - it's called Books! Books!

I read Dr. Northrup's book and quite honestly, it didn't do anything for me. Personnally, any menopause book written by a man, I will not buy or read because they have and never will experience
what we go through...periods, pregnancy, peri, etc...
