I am so bloated this month that I feel like an over-ripe tomato. I can actually hear liquid sloshing around when I roll over in bed. Why is is to bad some months and barely there others? Anyone have any tips for lessening the bloating?

I know it sounds counter productive, but you should drink more water to flush out the fluid your body is retaining. Also, if you are so bloated that you cannot button your normal clothes and have been for a while, you should see your doctor just to make sure all is well. Probably nothing to worry about, but it is best to get these things out if they are persistent.

hi,

yeah, the bloating is a killer, isn't it? I'm so bloated, i feel like the STAY PUFT marshmellow man! For me, i'm bloated a lot of the time, there are better days, but most of the time i'm really bloated! I notice that when I take some rolaids, and i burp more, it seems to alleviate some of the bloating. Just a thought!

Sincerely, MyDarling

Shakin'................you speak the truth!!!

Drink more water, NOT soda, or even worse DIET soda, not coffee, not tea..WATER!!! Try it!

Bloating is a sign that your body is under stress, either by water retention or gas!
Both these things are signs of a bad diet, or you just ate something that doesn't agree with you.
So ladies, clean up your diets.

If bloating still persists...........you NEED to see a doctor.
You've got something more serious going on.

Do you have other digestive upsets along with the bloating? If you do, it could be some type of IBS. This seems to be so commen for our age group going thru perimenopause. I have symptoms almost everyday of some sort of digestive upset, some days, I have nothing. It comes and goes. Try eating plain yogurt or taking a probiotic capsule and see if that helps.

During my menstrual years and especially through peri I suffered terrible bloating. Here are some ideas that worked for me. There was one cycle where even my feet ballooned while I was on vacation. Try cutting out salty foods and the pop. Avoid caffeine. Even chocolate has caffeine. Anything containing sodium will increase the fluid retention. Tight fitting clothes can make it worse by restricting your circulation. Get exercise. A pleasant walk should suffice. Lastly and most importantly, as others have said, drink plenty of water.

Oh goodness, the bloating. I hear you, loud and well. I've never had so much bloating since peri started. I can gain 7 lbs of fuid in 1 day. Cutting down on salt def helps. So does eating a grapefruit (the whole fruit) in the morning...very good diuretic...unless of course you are on meds that forbid grapefruit...ah! can we never win???

I ovulated yesterday, can't think of anythig out of the ordinary that I have eaten in the last 24 hours but at the moment I am SO overlybloated!!! Can't zipper my jeans when sitting, my waist is GONE and I feel miserable. Blah...think it's time for bed!

My worst bloating story: I was at my senior prom, (gee, forget the date.. wink.gif and expecting my period. My best friend and I decided to be cute, so we sat on each other's dates and posed for pictures. Her boyfriend put his hand on my stomach and loudly pronounced "Whoa! What are you, pregnant?" I could have died. I hope he's going bald somewhere....
