I am new here. I am a 45 year old woman of good health. About 12 mths ago I started working full-time and quit my gym. About 9mths ago I started to get really sore kegs from the knee down. My knees and hips started to ache when I lay down on my sides at night. Since then I have noticed that my legs hurt off and on, mostly in the summer. Also after sitting for even a short period of time my leg muscles become really stiff and when I stand up to walk I walk like an old lady until the stiffness wears off. When I use stairs my legs hurt up in the hip joints. My sister said it is old age but I refuse to believe that at 45 I am in such bad shape. I've wondered if there is a correlation between me building up my legs at the gym and then quitting??? I have no explanation but with summer coming on here in Australia, I can feel my legs starting to hurt during the day again. The stiffness is always there, and I am at a loss as to what could be causing this. Anyone who might be able to shed some light on this, I would be ever so grateful.

Same here. I've noticed the past couple months that I am very stiff in the legs and hips and lower back. Even after sitting at the computer for less than 20 minutes, when I get up I am hobbling and bent over. I've noticed poor circulation in my legs and feet, too. I'm 10 years older than you are but still don't feel old enough to be like this. I work in Food Service and on my feet all day and walk very fast-paced so it's not from lack of exercise!

I work in a doctor's office and am on my feet for the full 8 hour shift. I actually look forward to charting so I can sit for a little while. My legs are really achy. And what's worse is that at night when I try to relax and go to sleep, the achiness keeps me up. I cannot get into a comfortable position with the legs. My doc adjusted my lower back and that relieved the thigh burning symptoms but I still have ache and pain below the knees to the ankle. Feels like permanent shin splits. My PCP had me take a Doppler to r/o clots since I have family history of blood clots and various vascular problems. I really don't know what else to do other than try to work out a schedule where I am on my feet less or just change jobs completely.

Hi ladies!
I don't know if this will be any help to you...
A friend of mine started developing really bad pain in her legs, feet and hips after taking statins for a couple of weeks. She could hardly walk.
She came off them after a couple of months and it took ages for the pain to go.
She's painfree now.
Don't know if you're taking statins, but I just thought I'd let you know...
Hope things get better for you,
God bless, Jonie

I went back to drinking OJ twice a day (for the potassium) and it's helping a lot! I haven't had any calf cramps for several days now.
