Well, I'm pretty sure I'm getting a yeast infection, How wonderful!! I haven't had one of these in two years or at least I hope and think thats what it is, with my health anxiety issues, I get all kinds of crazy thoughts. I noticed since last night every time I bathe, and early of the morning I'm having slight itching on the outside of my well you know what I'm talking about.
I'm 40 now, and have had some hormonal issues, and someone said that in your 40's yeast infections are more common. Has anyone else heard this, or has anyone in my age bracket group had more yeast infections.
I drink lots and lots of water, I would imagine this would help it and not hurt it right??
Oh the lovely world of hormonal changes.

As Always thanks Ladies

Yes its true, I have heard that yeast infections are more common during peri because of all the hormonal fluctuations. It could just be a minor irritation, I get that sometimes, its not really a yeast infection, I totally think its a hormonal thing. Try applying plain yogurt the area, I know that sounds crazy but it does work.

Every time I go on vacation to a beach resort I get a yeast infection. Even if I change out of my wet bathing suit right away...and it's gotten worse in my forties.

Thank goodness we can buy stuff at the drugstore without a prescription now....

I've always been prone to yeast infections, and I ALWAYS get one when taking antibiotics. My doctor is good about prescribing the diflucan along with an antibiotic when needed. THe over the counter stuff does not work well for me - in fact it sometimes further irritates me in that area!

Yes - drinking water sure will not hurt - much better than sugary sodas!

As our estrogen levels drop the pH changes in our urogenital tract. This allows bacteria and yeasts that are always there to flourish and create infections that they couldn't cause before the pH changed. It's nothing you've done. I tried it all--cotton underwear, loose clothes, no bath salts, no harsh soaps, cranberry juice, etc. None of it kept my UTIs away--because it wasn't down to any of that--it was my pH had changed. When the pH changes it makes us more susceptible to UTIs, yeast infections, etc.

You're sort of lucky if it's just a yeast infection because you can buy the cure OTC. It used to cost me close to $1000 to clean up each UTI--and at one point I was getting them every 2 months--no insurance.

If it's only external--it could just be dryness--since lower levels of estrogen can cause dryness too.

This is what finally drove me to estrogen replacement. It was more cost effective.
