I had a saliva hormonal panel test done and the doctor said the results showed that my various hormone levels are well-balanced. Now I don't know what that means exactly but may explain why I don't have the usual peri-meno symptoms like hot flashes. But geez...I'm 53 now and wonder if the heavy fibroid periods will ever stop. Does anyone know if hormones have to be out of whack to signal menopause?

Hi Orngkat,
I think ( and this is only my input), that test's don't always show clearly what is going on in the body of women concerning her hormones. At the age of 53, I would guess that you are at least in some form of peri??? Remember that peri can last years and years for some.
As for the really bad fibroid periods, I'm sure that those can cause fatigue and issues with pain. I used to have such awful periods that for at least 2-3 days per month, I could barely function and dreaded them.
I'm 49 and this year, everything has changed. My periods are skipping around and became lighter.
I hope that you can get this resolved.
