Hi-

New to website please be patient with me I'm 37 and struggling big time. Never sick a day in my life....other than occasional cold once or twice a year. Anywho, I was a very healthy and active until I came down with a heck of a fever. I was hospitalized twice......with fever and chronic diarrhea. The whole workup was done....CBC, round of antibiotics, thyroid test, MRI, Spinal, CT, chest xrays etc etc. All came back normal......... with the exception of rbc (signs of anemia) Fastforward----->young intern discovered muliple fibroids (incidental finding). This all occured between Jan and Mar 06. During this time I developed chronic anxiety, bronchitis, nightsweats....all the icky things Well GYN discovered ruptured cyst, and did pelvic only to confirm what the young Intern in ER discovered......multiple fibroids........Had surgery on 17April. 14 removed.....all in non critical areas....all benign. So where am I today? Lightheadedness (blood pressure is normal), anxiety, foggy thinking, periods of anger, sadness, no hot flashes, but normal period. had the muscle twitches and tingling sensations, palpitations etc......PCP tried me Lexapro, Ativan, (Xanas <------very dangerous) at least for me......My anxiety intensified on Xanax. I was on an extremely low dose. Only as needed. Now she wants me to try buspa....as needed. I've had a vitamin test done and hormone tes. Vitamin had me deficient in Magnesium, Zinc, and Chromium. I've been on so many meds this year antibiotics, anti's, anx's, sinus meds etc. My body rejects all of these meds except antibi's and Iron tabs. Nothing's helping! my questions: DO YOU THINK I'M IN PERI? DID MY SURGERY HASTEN PERI? Should I try vitamins? My PCP is a great listener, but that's about it!

You poor thing, what an ordeal, everything you have been thur probably created a anxious depression. I dont think its peri, since u are having normal periods, no flashes, etc. It sounds more like severe stress. If I were in your shoes I would try giving zoloft a try. It not only treats the depression, but also addresses anxiety. Paxil is good too, but I think u would like the zoloft, less side affects. Also, try a good progesterone creame, it will make u more relaxed and sleep better, and most women in ur age group are progesterone low. See what happens and good luck!

I had anxiety symptoms show up right after having general anesthesia for oral surgery. I have always wondered if the medications triggered it as I was calm as can be prior.
